Hi all, I'm looking for good exploded views of USD front forks.
You see, I want to machine some (hydraulic?) USD fork sets as a hop-up part for 1/5th scale R/C bikes.
I have a slight idea of how to get it done, but that would require me to make new triple clamps too, cause the fork won't fit the stock ones.
Basicly, I want the lower piece of the fork to have a lobe inside the upper piece, that prevents it from dropping out.
This lobe will also have seals for air or oil pressure.
The upper piece will basicly just be a tube, with a smaller diameter at the lowest part to bind on the lobe of the lower leg I was talking about. And in the top of the tube, thread for the last part: The seal/cap/screw. Just something you screw in the hole like your gas tank's cap.
Inside this all there will also be a spring that compresses resting on the lobe and the cap, and the setting up will be for the person that orders the part! Very Happy

So, thanks in advance, and if any mod thinks this thread should be in technical stuff, feel free to move it. Its a bit of a border case between R/C bikes and something you'd ought to find in a workshop manual...

I tried googling, so please don't think I'm being lazy asking here, but all results where something like
"and then i had to fork out lots of cash (2,400 USD) to get this or that done. The exploded view helped the workshop alot, they said" Mad

Exactly, thanks, but if someone has some different pics too, they're also welcome.
I'm just in the "ok I'm serious about making the part, lets do some research" stage, so the more pics and exploded views the merrier! Smile

I see that real USD's are actually more complex than what I had in mind. I see it has a lower, upper AND middle part.
The idea of real USD's are to disassemble the fork by opening it and taking the parts out of the middle.
My design is more taking the cap out at the top and taking all parts out of the top...

I dont blame you. I fitted new seals to the usd fors on my yzf. What a bastard of a job it was. My mate who owns a trials bike shop helped me & he said never again. Thats someone thats used to doing seals on a daily basis!!!

thanks for the link owdamper!
Well, my forks won't be as complex as real ones, just about one or two rubber patches as a cheap seal.. Very Happy

i think making seals that seal under pressure may be a bit hard.

How about by a component designed for something else, to do the job. Maybe a kids mountain bike suspension fork.

I doubt mountain bike seals would be any good since the entire leg would have a thinner diameter as the small leg of a bike's USD.

Remember, I'm talking about SCALE 1:5th ! Wink

they would be oversize on 5th scale but i think they are still a better bet than trying to make something from scratch.

if not kiddy suspension fork, im sure there must be some other manufactured thing that wd do the job.
