I was riding home following a yellow CBR being ridden pretty fast by a guy in leather jacket, jeans and trainers. I got caught at some lights and a few moments later a GSXR pulled up next to me. The rider asked if I'd seen a yellow CBR, so I said 'yes, why are you having a race?'. 'No', he said, 'it's my bike and it's been nicked!'

With that the lights changed and off he went with a big wheelie...

its a shame he didnt have time to ask 'which way did it go ?' for you to answer 'thataway !'

I wonder what would happen if he caught up with the guy. Id love to be a fly on the wall/tank for that one.

the weird thing is, why is he fucking around doing wheelies if hes trying to catch up with someone?

I think its likely that he wheelied because he wanted to pull away quickly. A power wheelie rather than a poser wheelie.

i think he was probably more keen on pulling away as quickly as possible than correct road ettiquette.

etiquette is irrelevant- a huge wheely means a very slow start. my point was if he doesnt know how to pul laway quickly and does wheelies purely by accident then hes shite on a bike. bugger all to do with road etiquette

i dont think a wheelie means a slow start
hes put so much power on quickly that the front has come up.

If the wheel doesnt come up when you put the power on, you havnt put it on fast enough.

You should have gone after him if you could keep up. Even if the guy caught up with the little scrote, short of rolling up along side and kicking him off it would be pretty difficult to get the bike back on his own.

Actually, the conversation did go like that!

It was a small pop up power wheelie rather than a show off one.

I followed him to give him support.
He went off like a bat outa hell, I kept up for about a mile, but decided against squeezing between the bus and the white van like he did!
When I got past the road had split and he was nowhere to be seen. I took the righthand fork but didn't see him.

I kind of got the impression that the bike had been stolen some time ago and that he was coming out of a side junction and suddenly saw the bike go past (like I did). It had been modified, different seat, pipe etc so I guess he recognised it.

If he didn't catch up then if I was him I would sit by the side of the road at the same time for a few days to see if he came that way again.

I was wondering if he had 2 bikes.

Ha!

Yeah how's he gonna get the 2 home?

He'll ring his mate to ride the other home, so his mate turns up on his bike. Then theres 3 bikes and 2 people. Laughing
