Hi

Bet it wasn't his sarnies in the top box. Wonder how much development work they are still doing. Noticed that in the Bike test the one they rode had a steering damper while the bike in the studio shots had no steering damper.

All the best

Keith

that sounds good to me as i like twitchy light steering bikes and if they are trying them with steering dampers, they must be twitchy

I've seen the bike in the flesh now, it does come with a steering damper as standard, but it's plain, like a Suzuki standard one, and it's under the yokes, unlike the BiKE one,

Been reading a bit more about it in detail today. Looks great for Triumph but not sure its the class beater that is supposed to be. After all, how many other 2006 bikes are there in the 675cc class?

I think once the general models move from 600 to 650 +675 and no doubt 699 as standard then things will look a lot different.

Time will tell. Smile

Hi

It is a 600 equivalent, just like the 749. While they might make a 699cc 4 that would be pretty close to the 750s, and would look pretty slow compared to them.

After all look how similar the GSXR600 and 750 are chassis wise.

Classing bikes purely on capacity is a strange idea really. Something the insurance companies only realised about 10~15 years ago.

All the best

Keith

I take it you mean the Duke 749? Well wouldn't that be in the same class as the other inline 750's.

Are you saying the 675 triple engine is no more powerfull than an inline 600?

I sort of got that from the test write up, as I understand it the triple makes more power at lower revs?

Would the 675 be allowed to race in a 600cc race then? Surely it would have to race with equivalant cc's.

Confused Confused

That is the idea. Point being that cc is a fairly random thing to use as a limit.

A triple will be a longer stroke engine. Longer stroke generally means more torque (even more so with a larger capacity) but less revs. Power is torque x revs, so it works out about the same. Different ways of getting the same power (basically the difference between burning more fuel by revving harder, or burning less fuel but doing so more efficiently).

Much the same as the old Superbike racing rules that allowed 750cc 4s and 1000cc twins.

After all, if you want to leave the 600 4s behind then just build a 600cc V8.

All the best
