Hi all!

My Vmax has developed a 'fault' when left idling...its used to sit about the 1k revs and be totally consistent. Now, theres this intermittent fault where every 10 seconds or so it's like it misses a heart beat and can cause it to stall! Theres absolutely no problems at all when riding it, just say when I get off to open my gate and garage door... If I leave it (sometimes mind not all the time...) it can miss 3 or 4 beats then eventually stall itself. Am not worried about it too much, but If its a symptom of something or if I can stop it I'd like to try...

Could it be in need of new spark plugs? Any thoughts on this would be really appreciated. Cheers dudes...

Likely causes could be plugs, HT leads, air filter, battery.

Change the plugs and air filter, charge the battery and top up its water if necessary, and spray the HT leads with WD40.

Recently replaced the stock air filter with a new K&N (felt great). Will do the plugs and check the battery and the rest.
Cheers, just needed to confirm that plugs are a possible...this bike hasn't had a plugs change since 1997!!

Sounds to me like one of the pots is not firing, maybe a crack in the plug or a lead with the insulation breaking down..

Bye the way..
It's "problema" - spanish or italian for "problem"
comes from greek and therefore is masculine despite ending in "a"

I would have looked at your plug caps first. Make sure they are screwed into the leads properly and not getting damp or anything. And no cracks or rubber missing.

Stepdads friend has this sort of problem, It tends to 'dance' from time to time, Had this problem for a while and its starting to bug him, stripped off the top of the airbox to see that the front left (when sitting on it) cylinder was getting more fuel than the others. Were balancing the carbs on tuesday, see how it goes

Ian at Exactrep has been a great help to him Thumbs Up 0247 644 2054
