will protect up to a certain point,as will any oily based product, as will silicon spray etc etc, up to a point where the oil seals will remove it as the forks are compressed, thats if they are doing there job properly, good for keeping in storage though

Your're going to hate me for sugesting this froggy, but good old fs365 win's again!! Spray some onto a tissue and wipe onto the forks (or any surface for that matter). Will leave a nice oily surface that will prevent corrosion YET washes off easily. Thumbs Up

Remember.... Anything that sticks to a surface will (if sticky) collect all sorts of shit and detritus.
Some of this is hard material from the road which can score your precious chrome.
F365 Thumbs Up

i agree with walloper

best to wipe off excess fork oil so it doesnt collect dirt, rather than put on more gloop that will pick up dirt

The portion of fork stanchion which is active will benefit from being dried when you park it up. Everything else which is chromed and doesn't get hot will benefit from being lathered in vaseline.

If you're vain and care about always having a sparkly bike, then it might annoy you with easily sticking dirt, but I'd really say that keeping the rust off is a little more important than having a clean bike in winter. (An impossible task anyway.)
