My eldest lad is looking for a 125, fortunately he's reasonably bright and has realised that on his limited funds and with the strong likelihood of him chucking it down the road at some point, he needs a naked bike Confused .

Therefore Suzi GS, Honda CG etc etc Embarassed .

They seem to be bloody difficult to find and I wonder if anyone has any tips as to the best place to try and find one bearing in mind that he only has a few hundred quid to spend aswell, we're on the south coast near Brighton.

Ta muchly Mr. Green

You can catch yourself a bargain on Ebay at this time of year. I just bought myself an Aprilia RX50, 114km on the clock, 05 plate, 04 model, mint condition, never offroaded, tyres not even worn, always indoors. For £1200! From a guy in Newcastle, proper bloke!

For those who havent seen her yet, this is her (never told anyone apart from the folk in the scottish section) Thumbs Up

Keep an eye on www.adtrader.co.uk.

Other stuff to consider H100, RXS100, also the sportier 125s, like NS125, RG125 etc. They may have plastics, but you don't really need them, so can be left off after a crash Smile.

Some of the 'cheaper' bikes seem to be holding their value because of their cheap status.

You will be pushed to find anything much for less than £500 in my experience. Even then you need to be careful. The CG at any rate, tends to have engine trouble at about 35k miles. Thumbs Down

Expect to pay around the £700 mark

I got a 3 year old one for that, sold it for £50 more(3months later after
test)

Thing is you can't loose.

Buy it, keep it a few months pass your test, get rid.

No other reason to have one really, apart from excellent fuel economy.

Local free-ads papers are usually full of them too. Ad-trader and the likes.

I euthanaised my last dying 125. We threw it off a cliff then blew it up (with large stage gadroons, blew the crankcase covers clean off!) for a film.

With the free ads you need to get in there early and by that i mean buy it when the paper shop opens on the day the paper first comes out and be ringing any bikes you are interested in by breakfast time.

All the cheap bikes that are any good are usually sold by dinner time. Anything thats still there 1 or 2 days later hasn't sold for a reason.

For £700 he can have my nice 1991 Honda NSR125FL in Black/red/green. Has around 25,000 miles on it (actual mileage much lower than this as it was converted to MPH after being KPH in the past).

Had a full top-end rebuild and general tidy-up around 2500 miles ago, new brake pad front/rear, recond'd front caliper, New tyres around 1500 miles ago, newish chain/sprockets (very little wear), mini front/rear indis, mini numberplate, new headlight bulb, clutch cable etc...

Very clean bike for it's year...

Local free ads.

I found my 125 on loot.com and the accompanying paper.

£200, MZ ETZ 125. 2 stroke single, looked a bit ratty, but ran brilliantly.

Did me for 6 months, passed my test on it, threw it down the road once. Then I loved it so much I bought the 250.

Find breakers in yellow pages, and give em a ring. They will have had a few insurance write-offs or bikes which have been chucked down the road once or twice which could be immaculate with a wee bit of a touch up. The breaker's round where i live is black's in burscough, they're legendary round these parts...

i bought my 125 from a salvage place
its an unusual colour scheme which i like but other than that its been a bit too much trouble for my liking

ebay would have been better from a seller that has used their bike recently
