hey everyone new on here!

just a few questions and bits of advice to ask of you all??

basically today i booked my DA course (an intensive one)

doing my cbt on monday

anyone got any advice or help that will help me out in my test and lessons?

--------------------------

also once i've passed will be looking for a bike (obviously!)

will probably have around £1500-£2000 to spend

have been looking at zxr's and gsxr's mainly!! really would only consider a sports bike (sorry if that causes offence)

is my budget realistic for these bikes? also i'm about 6ft 4ins and weigh 14.5stone. what kind of engine size would suit, i would imagine a 400cc would be to small??

cheers for any advice

Welcome to the forum buddy.

First off, do a search for new rider tips, this site is crammed with them if you do a quick hunt.

Bike wise, I think you'll want a 600, and the bikes you are naming are well within your price range, circa 98ish. I'm after a ZX6R, you can pick up a mint one of eBay, 99, for about £1800.

The best advice i can give you for lessons and cbt, is don't get nervous or get scared of the bike. And never stare at the clocks! Having said that, watch your speed on the road lol. Ceck out the duffer's guide to passing the test (in new bikers i think)

Good luck Thumbs Up

Jack

Personally I'd say you are probably thinking of a 400 in car terms, IE anything smaller than 1L is slow.

A 400 will be faster and a bit more powerful than the bikes you do your DAS on, so I would certainly not dismiss them out of hand.

A 600 is a LOT faster and a LOT more powerful than the bikes you will do your DAS on, and that is worth some consideration IMO.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

i was thinking of the actual "physical size" of the bike, as i'm quite tall

do the bikes differ in size/shape going from different engine sizes?

400's aren't a great deal smaller than 600's mate. Though if your a bog-monster they will seem small.

would want to feel comfortable on it, so would prefer it to be a bit larger.

your bike looks excellent mate, unfortunatly i dont have cash saved up for a purchase just yet, although its defo tempting!!

is that the kinda general price i should be looking to pair for the zxr's of this age and size?
