"dieseling" can be caused when the idle is set too high and/or the ignition is too far advanced. it lets fuel get sucked into the combustion chamber even tho it's off, and if the idle is lean/fast it can run hot enough to combust the fuel without a spark.
it's bad, so get your carb/idle and timing settings checked asap

Could be Carbon build up on the head, stays glowing hot after you turn the ignition off. That would be hot enough to ignite any fuel still floating around.
When you drive the car do you open it up or just potter around town? It might need a good blowout to clear all the crap out. More fun is to Redex the bugger, air filter off and pour some s l o w l y into the carb while reving the engine, then just watch all the smoke come from the exhaust...Smells nice too.  ____________________ Andy Sez....
