When it really really pours down, my bike splutters when accelerating!!

I'm thinking water must be getting into the fueling system somewhere! or the plugs maybe??

ideas?

Cheers.

Common fault with the sv is that water gets into the spark plug cap/surrounding area and it causes it to "cough & splutter" and sometimes run on one cylinder. The divvy is obviously a IL4 (yes) but it may suffer from the same problem. Try take the plug caps out, dry them and wd40 them. As one they are wet, they can actually stay wet for a prolonged period.

I'm guessing the bike doesn't have a fender extender? If not, I would recommend one as it may solve your problem. Smile

Good call that chap.

Common on a lot of old Suzuki's such as oil cooled GSXR's and Bandits which have vented plug caps and no plug hole drains. Used to use silicone to seal up the outer two cylinders.

https://www.performancemotorcycleparts.co.uk/bodywork_pages/powerbronze_fender_extenders.htm

As you can imagine, the front wheel spits up dirt/water from the ground onto your engine. The fender extender basically extends the cover of your mudguard and reduces the amount of crap flung onto the bike. (well, reduces, it reduces the height that it will reach as well)

If you look around on ebay, I believe you can get them for £19. Thumbs Up

That black bit of plastic, attached to the mudguard. Smile

When you get the tank off next check the spark plug lead all the way up to the coils (should be two) even then there might be no obvious problems so its hard to say..

Try takeing the plugs out and cleaning the recess where they cap goes in, sealing it might be an idea like sickpup mentioned.. if that dont help new plugs and caps are the next step, see if you can cover the coils in any way? (heared of people covering cg125 coild with an asda bag)

Good luck getting it fixed, i had similar rian induced intermitant problems on a previousd bike and it was a right git to get fixed, think i finaly fixed it but it totaly destroyed my confidence in the bike as it was completely without warning and totaly random Thumbs Down

if the above doesn't work - which it should, also check all electrical connections, if one's not properly covered and gets some water on it it will cause the same symptons,
