if i bought a bike that doesnt have a 2 stroke oil pump, would premixed petrol and 2 stroke oil separate in the petrol tank if the bike was parked up for a while ?

If premix seperates into oil and petrol after about a week its gonna be too much hassle so I'd have to fix the pump.

also, why do race bikes have the oil pump removed ?

Yes premix can seperate BUT the action of riding the bike tends to keep it mixed. All that stopping and starting has the fuel sloshing around in the tank alot.

Race bike lose the pump as it just creates drag on the engine so leading to a small loss of power.

If the premix mixture is correct you are always getting the correct amount of 2t anyway regardless of engine speed or throttle position.

If I had a bike that I only used once a week or maybe once a month, would i need to drain the tank of premix to stop problems form it separating ?

i spose maybe i could shake the bike from side to side before riding or something

Hi

Yep, just shake the bike a bit before riding off.

All the best

If the pump failed you wouldn't know about it till the engine siezed, with premix you've got oil all the time.
