I came out of college today about to go collect my girlfriend, walked up to my moped, all is looking fine until i look at the boot......some fucking dickhead broke it open on me Sad . if i had caught him at it i would have smashed his head against a wall (sorry people....im very annoyed!). He got my spare lid (about €100), my gloves (€50), my water proof trousers (€25) and a canterbury rain jacket (€45). I dont normally keep much stuff in my boot, it was only cos i was playing a soccer competition in college so i didnt want to carry stuff round with me. Went to the bike shop after it happened to be told that it isnt repairable so ive to get a whole new seat which is going to cost €100........what a crap day Mad

sorry to hear about that Sad must be a damn big boot to fit all that in, mine doesnt even fit me helmet.

They are very insecure locks on the seats, so generally its not a good idea to use it to hold valuable stuff and i think some of the manuals for scooters warn about it.

Try a breakers for the seat, you may get one a bit cheaper than buying new.

Have you thought about insurance..?

If you have house and contents, either you own or through your parents, they ususally have a "property lost or stolen away from home" clause which would at least cover your stuff

no the college cant do anything unfortunately. i checked around yesterday and they dont even have any cameras outside.

I wouldnt even consider claiming off my bike insurance cos i didnt loose THAT much and i would rather pay for it out of my own pocket than loose my NCB and then my insurance would go up. i was talking to my parents yesterday after it happened and they didnt say anything about the clause you mentioned Kris. They did give me €100 last nite to get new gloves and waterproof bottoms tho. Got the gloves today at a bike show. Going to get new bottoms in the morning before going to the ireland match.

Im going to try fix the boot myself over the weekend, i dont think i will b able to fix it tho. If i cant i will probably get a new seat and put it on myself rather than paying extra for the labour in the shop.

Im still going mad about it Sad

Sorry to hear about that mate. They really are insecure the boot things on peds... I could open mine with literally eny key that was the right size. I only ever kept my disklock and chain in there though, which was obviously not in there when it was parked up.

Wouldn't you just love to catch someone doing it though? I don't think I'd ever stop fucking them up, I'd just go psycho. It's like if you catch someone in your house, you'd literally kill 'em wouldn't you? But you get done for manslaughter... it really does take the piss, you can't win. Pikeys can rob you, and if they hurt theirselves in doing so they can sue the fuck out of you, what is the world and in particular, our government coming to?

I know they arent secure at all. NORMALLY i wouldnt leave anything in there but the one day i do this happens.

I know what you mean Scobby, if i had caught them at it i would have killed them, there would have been bits of him all over the street. I was in such a horrible mood when i had seen that it had been broken into that i really would have broken any1 up. When i realised what happened i was standing beside my bike cursing like mad and some guy about 10 yards away getting on his bike turned around to see if i was alright.

Another thing that really annoyed me is that no1 saw them doing it as far as i know. The bike was parked outside college which is on a really really really busy street in the city centre Mad
