Yup - first track day done today. Broke me duck at Cadwell!

After a 2hr ride to the place, got there late and missed first session (novice of course!). Me an me mate had our own briefing and then hit the track.

Sad It was raining....

but then the track started to dry and woooo-hooo! Very Happy

Being honest, I didn't like it through the first session, but as the day went on it got much better, I even managed to overtake people (well only two, but it's a start!). After another 2hr ride home I find myself totally knackered - I ache all over! Is this normal? Please say it is then I won't feel like I ought to go to the gym!

Will post me pix when they arrive.

It is normal, but now that I've been going to the gym, I don't feel it nearly as much - only slightly achey after Lydden - and I'm hanging off for 3/4 of the whole track there!

Glad you had fun.

If you can get there for the first session it's usually better.
That way everyone's slow and wobbly together. While others had started to get confidence when you joined them a bit wobbly, probably Smile.

Remember, you can camp at the track, a load less hassle than riding on the day if you're a way away.

Very Happy Another convert!

It's amazing how exhausted a track day can leave you, going to have to hit the gym big time over winter.

Glad you enjoyed it, camping over the night before is the way ahead, just saves getting all hassled in the morning as you can get your bike setup the night before etc..

I think it is a common trend with trackday virgins to not enjoy the first couple of sessions and then enjoy it as their lines get better and stuff. I felt like that and a number off another forum on their trackday felt the same. Smile

Hi All

Pix arrived today but having prob's with the scanner (old Artec thing that doesn't like XP!). Hopefully I'll get it sorted soon!

I thought that I would be well and truly shot on Monday, but was surprised to find I felt OK. Forearms are aching a bit today (Tues) but nothing much other than that - perhaps I don't need the gym after all (well apart from the beer gut that is!) Embarassed

Going back to the day itself, I was quite worried out in the rain (normally riding in the rain doesn't phase me) but when you're pushing the boundary a bit and it's chucking it down, along with one of the guides telling you that there was an early spill which ended with oil on the surface, I think it was probably to be expected! After the first session out, the track started to dry and the line started to appear - that's when the fear disappeared and I was happy to push a bit harder. I still didn't like the corners in the Woodland - the one after the chicane, then Barn, (I think)? - It took me a number of laps before I felt confident at speed through those!

All in all, I have to say that I enjoyed my day at Cadwell.

Nice one!

I was amazed how tired I was after Snetterton, I even said to Bendy how knackered I was, as I munched on a pasty.

Both trackdays I've been to, I havn't completed all the sessions.

Thanks! It's in pretty good nick for a '98 - testimony to the guy(s) before me I'm afraid, though I do try and keep it reasonably clean! The bellypan is all that I've added - it came with everything else.

Not surprised by that, I was well and truly knackered by the end of the day. I couldn't believe just how quick the sessions came around - the day just flew by! I couldn't wait until the break for lunch finished, that's the only part of the day that dragged (well apart from the journey there that is)!
