Hey guys, been looking around for a new exhaust for the bike, and given my budget im not finding much. i have seen this on ebay tho,

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-LASER-JAMA-PRO-DOR-SILENCER-CAN-SLIP-ON_W0QQitemZ8009102584QQcategoryZ25623QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Can you get a universal one? i mean what could be the implications of putting this one on?

and what is the proper name of the connecter pipe that puts 2 header/downpipes into one pipe for silencer? they must be quite universal no?

I like look that one and i'm sure my bro knows a guy who can make a pipe to connect it to the downpipes.

Your thoughts please guys,
cheers

Quik

There is no such thing as a universal exhaust, most exhausts I have seen or used have a 50mm manifold to where the exhaust would connect to.

The area where all the pipes join is called the collector box.

I would be willing to say there are no universal bits to exhaust systems. Exhaust cans can be fitted to many different systems assuming you have the correct inlet diameter or can make up a link pipe to suit.

The inlet on that one is 60mm, i'm suprised you can't buy collector boxes on their own. Would it potentially run shite if i popped that exhaust onto it? I was thinking of getting someone tune it for me anyway as it'll prob cost the same as some vacumn guages to balance the carbs

I doubt it mate. You can retro-fit many exhausts and they'll run fine. Well, they will SEEm to run fine, I guess you don't knopw how they are really running. Always best to get the carbs sorted though, to ensure it's running correctly.

I haven't put a different exhaust on a bike that it's not designed for but would never hesitate in doing so.

Smile

Do you really require a new 'link' pipe or collector box? i.e Can you not jsut hack off the original exhaust with a saw?

i'll have to have a look, i dunno if your familiar with honda bros, they have a stumpy silencer and a big ol collection box with all the baffles in. The collection bit that i need is welded/part of the main collection box. I'll have to have a look though.

On 4 strokes, if you make the can fit, it will probably work. Just might need to adjust the jetting but otherwise it should be ok.
