Yes, again.

Okay, it's been a while but there's some new blood now so lets have another shot.

Slap your ideas in this thread and we can see if anyone comes up with anything new and exciting.

Remember, it's got to be printed / cut out / embroidered, so keep the number of colours down, no photographs or excessive detail.

See Bendy's sig for one place such things will be available if we can sort out a design.

I'm sure bike decals and possibly other products could be made available if we did manage to get a decent design.

I'm sure we could find our way to getting an item of clothing or similar available as a 'prize' to the person that creates the final design, if a decent one is chosen.

thing is is bcf really a club? I thought it was just a forum (bikechatforum). Or do you mean you want a logo to replace that one at the top left?

https://www.bikechatforums.com/templates/standard/images/logo_phpBB.gif

Have a look at a few other bike clubs and see what patches they have and draw inspiration from it. This is the cxgl motorcycle club patch I have on my jacket:

personally I think the site needs a new name, bikechatforums I wouldn't have that on me or my bike sounds geeky.

Where does a forum end and a club begin? The 'I want a BCF sticker / patch / t-shirt' topic comes up often enough that some people obviously feel it's more than just a forum and want to show their loyalty in some way.

I'm leaving this very open ended cos I want to see what people feel. Smile

Want a general logo to 'represent' this community, whatever people may see the community as.

As you mention, BCF isn't really a traditional club, so a logo isn't going to be designed purely for use as a club patch, as such.

I suppose its a good way to notice other members at a local bike meet, or maybe at big events such as Moto GP.

Maybe a small screen sticker would be good, as it would be cheap and tidy, but still noticable.

Can someone find the last thread about this. I think it was quite big with quite a few designs in it.
With alot more new members one of those might be favourable.

I'm decimating all my lecture notes with diagrams of phalluses so here's my interpretation of the BCF logo Rolling Eyes Wink

BTW whatever happened to the www.bikechatforums.com stickers that Mars Bar used to produce? I never really had the chance to buy one when i should have. I guess that was the nearest thing we had to a "logo" by which other BCFers could identify each other.

Is the logo just so we can recognise each other? Or is it also for advertising purposes? I'm asking so that we know whether it has to include the full url, or can it just say "BCF".

I don't get why they all say 'Racing' on them, we aren't all racers! Razz As for a design, I'd say that a screen decal would work best, and a patch should be forgotten as most (Me included) will not want to ruin their leather/textile jackets with one.

So a decal would work best, I'll get to work on some logos, even though I am really sh*t at designs Laughing

It really depends how much people want a logo but I belong to another forum where they have logo "competitions".
A prize needs to be offered, usually £30 upwards, but sometime a bit lower.
The logos that have been designed by the guys and gals there are AMAZING!
Some of the people do it as a profession and others just in there spare time.
Anywho I am rabbiting on.
If somehow BCF could muster the prize dosh I think it would be a good way of getting a new logo.
Normally you pick your favourite from all the entries and they send you the original files etc.

A Cut and Paste that might help:

Quote:
A logo's ONLY job is to be memorable. The only people who ever study a logo, are the owners, art students, and other people who aren't necessarily interested in products. Successful logos are not studied. They are glimpsed, and remembered, and form lasting associations in the mind.

The most successful logos follow five simple rules:

1. It's not a CV for the company.
2. Few colours. Usually only 2 or 3. Can stretch to 4. If text is included, subtract a colour. E.g. Intel Inside, coke, 20th century fox.
3. Instantly recognisable in silhouette. E.g. BMW, Shell, MacDonald's.
4. They have a catch*.
5. Can evolve and remain recognisable.

* Catch - Logos are often more successful if they have a "catch". Something which isn't immediately obvious. It can be impossible to work out unless told, like BMW's spinning propellor, or merely hard to realise until viewed a few times e.g. Bacardi's red bat logo. Some have a catch that has been so familiar for so long we can't remember when we worked it out. Few people can remember at what point in their childhood three co-joined circles became Mickey Mouse's silhouette.

Cos we were also trying to design a BCF Racing logo. That, we managed, and have been using all year on G's bike.

BCF logo for everyone to use, we could never agree on.

Perhaps you are looking at the thread that asked about logos for BCF Racing, rather than logos for the forum Smile.

If we are talking a decent design, I'm sure we could work out some sort of cash thing, providing the designers are happy if we don't choose one of theirs if we don't like it or like one produced on here better.

Could maybe do a run of limited edition 'first' t-shirts or similar, which would cover the costs of the prize.

yeah basically they work on the basis that if you odnt like any of the designs by the deadline then you don't have to pick one.
Normally they ask for some guidance as to roughly what your looking for in terms of wording/image but they are pretty creative.

The only thing we would need to do is make sure that we definatley had the prize money available before we start it up.
Bendy/G PM me if you want more details etc or a link to a current comp running on the forum.

so i started off with this:
https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/GuyMiller/BCFlogo1.jpg

and these came from it:

https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/GuyMiller/BCFlogo4.jpg

https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/GuyMiller/BCFlogo3.jpg

https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/GuyMiller/BCFlogo2.jpg

https://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/GuyMiller/BCFlogo5.jpg

just an idea, would help if people would give a few things they want to feature in the logo?

I'm no expert but I'm not sure the 3 bikes are necessarily excellent for stickers/t shirt logos, they kinda look bodged together.
Just my 2 cents tho
