I was going home a couple of nights ago around midnight so roads were dead for all you safety nazi's! and i came up behind a raleigh spec subaru impreza.

He obviously saw a bike come up behind him and thought he would have a little play! so he buggered off before i even realised what was going on! so i thought sod that dropped a cog and caught up! we came up to a set of traffic lights just before a long twisty country road so i pulled up next to him we gave each other a little nod and it was on!!!!

I beat him off the lights and nailed it. but to my suprise for the first time ever on the roads a car was actually on my arse! we cariied on 4 a little while i put a bit of a gap between us but he caught up on a straight seens as im only on a 400!

He tried to over take but couldnt do it!
Anyway the point of this post is that i have never been kept up with on the roads by a car and hats of to the guy! and the impreza is a quick car!

Im just happy he couldnt over take me! Very Happy

No, a sports 400 should easily outrun a lot of cars. A lot of it is down to the rider as well though, how well he can control the bike etc.

I don't get big sports cars trying to race me on my RD usually. Its mainly Chavs that try it. Come up beside me in their Corsa'a, Clio's, Saxo's and Nova's etc, with their mates in the back, all staring at me. At the lights, usually rev their engine, I let them go ahead, then drop it into the band, slip it into the next gear and I'm gone. I've had a number of them in straight line as well. They may have better top end, but by the time they have got to a decent speed, I've gone already. I think as soon as they see the 'L' plate and B reg bike, they think "haha lets race the learner". I love it. They usually back off and turn off into another road when I'm too far ahead. Lmao.

The first day I had my hornet and a 206 was right up my arse, despite my best efforts to get rid of it.

On the other hand, I guess I probably shouldn't have said that.

You'll be amazed at how well some modern motors do around a set of twistys (with a reasonable driver). Friend of mine has a Civic Type-R, and I've chased him a few times around a set of twisties, and watched the arse going out around the bends.

Impressive to say the least. Very Happy

No offence but I have a mate who can ride the arse off his 400 much to the life endangerment of himself but I seen him smoke a Subaru Impreza then fcuk off into the distance!!!!!

I'd only 'just' caught the Scoob about 10mins later but never got by on my Ninja... Embarassed

The fast scoobys are genuinely quick and can embarass you if you're caught napping! With a decent driver on board there's not many bikes could get away from them on a twisty, traffic free road.
Two other cars that impressed me, TVR Tuscan and a recent Maserati, both stayed with the ZZR600 i had at the time off roundabouts up to 120mph, I was fairly impressed at both.

I was at 140+ before I caught his tail coming into a 30 zone.

A decent WRX will get to 150mph, more than enough for a 400.

If money was no option i'd have a R34 skyline. I raced a Coswerth and an R34 on my old R1 and when you're over 165mph and you see them coming is very scary!!

I had an old FZR400RRSP and it would only do 140. Any half decent car will piss all over a 400 in a straight line. Had it been an STI subaru or an EVO it would have been past.

I had some chavy 1.0l nova up my arse once, was in a built up area and 3 quite big roundabouts. As he had 4 wheels he could grip a hell of alot better.

I managed to power out of the roundabout and nail it down the single carriage way and his lights quickly vanished from my mirrors. Laughing
