Silly leathers question

OK, this is probably a stupid question, but you guys are the only people I can ask...

Basically, I´ve bought a set of leathers here in spain, should have been 600 euros but got them for 300, so I´m pretty happy.

BUT - I don´t have a clue what I´m meant to use the leathers for. Can you use them in the rain? Or should I stick to textiles with waterproof pants? It´s a 2 piece suit, zipped in the middle, with kevlar bits. It says it´s "weatherproof", but I don´t want to risk ruining them by wearing them in the rain.

If anyone knows, I´d be extremely grateful. I´m coming home tomorrow, and have a whole winter of rain to look forwards to. I´m in an internet café, too, so please excuse the funny looking appostrophes - wierd spanish spec keyboard.

i use them in the dry , my textiles are warmer and better in the rain

Yeah, stick to leathers in the summer, textiles come rainy time. Buy some nikwax or some similar waterproofing stray from millets, give your leathers a good coating with that, and you'll feel like you're teflon-coated.

By the way, the arse of your leathers will be ultra-slippy after the waterproofing, quite handy for leaning into corners though!

hey, i havnt got the money to buy any decent textiles, so what i do is wear the leathers, then put my £10 aldi motorcycle waterproofs on, Been wearing water proofs now if its sunny or not.

Also, i wear a different jacket to the one on my leathers if im riding with jeans on.

Leathers + waterproofs should be ok if it's just rain. Sub-zero temperatures need a bit more preparation...
