Best van for motorbike transport.

As title. Thinking of a transit, however does anyone if there's any smaller vans that will comfortably hold a bike.

Transit covers a big range - a swb low top transit should just hold two bikes , but not much else.

A lwb vannette or similar the same.

Is this to be used regularly?
For what purpose?

Yeah a low top transit does seem the best option.

Having got into trackdays and now racing; you do want to think about how 'into' it you're going to be.

Something like the nissan vanette will probably be fine if you've only got one bike and spares or two bikes and no spares.
I believe they handle a bit more car like and can be picked up quite cheaply.

As you get better you can not only be more serious, but load the bikes with a lot more ease. I can just run up a ramp with my bike engine running into my LWB LDV. Also nice because I can stand up in the van, sleep in it and carry stupid amounts of spares.

Get a good deal and can always sell it on if you don't like it and get something else.

Ah - been there done this.

Mercedes Vito or a VW transporter - you'll get two bikes in no trouble. Step up in size is Fiat ducato, Peugeot Boxer, Renault traffic and similar.

I will probably get flamed for this as they are very popular, but IME and IMHO don't touch a transit with a barge pole. Really is the Lada of the van world.

I bought a VW LT35 to go around France in with a couple of bikes last year, then sold it on again when we came back.

Don't worry about mileage. 250k on a van is not uncommon. Avoid builders / plumbers vans.

I'm currently in the process of buying a Mercedes 309 van, which should easily be able to carry two bike with support equipment. The van i'm looking at has got a tow bar as well so would then be able to carry two extra bikes in the box trailer or more than likely nick my old mans caravan so that I can do trackday's in style.

most vans will do.. only thing is try get a low one some of them are very high.......this means the ramp wount have to be a steep or long.....

The LDVs are high, only really a problem if you can't have the engine running or the ramp's really slippy and you're on your own.
