Storing your bike for winter.-help

Putting my bike away for the winter, I've seen various magazine articles about how to do it - Disconnect the battery, reduce the tyre pressure, put grease on various bits etc.....

\but typically, now that I want to do it I cant remember what to do.

Any tips??????

Nothing wrong with being a fair weather rider. I have ridden through winter. It's not nice. I prefer to take the car. I also prefer to keep my bike clean and in good condition. I like to arrive at work not needing another shower. I have a car. I have a brain.

Well I use my bike as a recreational toy, I have a company car for work, and dont enjoy freezing my bollocks off and getting soaked!! wheres the fun in that?? Also I want to keep my bike in good condition away from all that road crud - yuk !!

Fair play to those who ride all year long but its not for me I'm afraid!!

don't see any reason to let air out of the tyres, just get the wheels off the ground ... centerstand, blocks, whatever ...
always change the engine oil and filter if u are storing it for any length of time
remove the battery and store that on a block as well ... don't just set it on a concrete floor .. for some reason that will kill it
drop the float bowls and drain the carbs ... remove the tank and drain it, then dump a quart of oil in there and slosh it around ...
if u live in an area where there is high humidity it is probably a good idea to change the brake fluid as well ... dot 3/4 hydraulic fluids are hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from the atmosphere ...

To look after my bike through the winter I get it out the garage at 7:30 every morning, and ride the 50miles to work, park under tree, Ride 50miles home 9 hours later. Bike loves it, starts first time and runs fine when spring comes round.

Well you can do the hornet if you like, but i think the dirt protects the bike from winter.

All I do is run the tank quite low on petrol then turn it off and run it till it conks out. Take out the plugs and squirt some oil in there to coat the barrels. Take off the battery then put it in a big bag 'till summer. Get it out all shiny and go and get some fresh petrol in it.
