PostPosted: 17:00 - 09 Mar 2003    Post subject: Coming for a ride??? Reply with quote

Hello all,
I have already written this message like 2 times already but thought a third wouldn't heard. I used to live in Norfolk where I used to ride with quite a large crew, however, unfortunately I have just moved to Hamshire and do not know any other riders. I was just wondering if there are any hampshire, salisbury, fordingbridge riders out there who are interested in going for a blaze across the New Forest or something. I am also interested in setting up a Regular Hampshire Bike Meet, anybody who is interested in either the meetings or just going for a cane then e-mail me at [email protected]

Thanx Matt

alright mate

I'm up in north hampshire, kinda near basingstoke if you know it.

Come up to the bike meet in Odiham, first wednesday of every month. Click Usergroups up there ^^^ and then select it, and click join. Do the same for the Box Hill one, which is kinda off the southern most point of the M25

But how can I get there???

I have not passed my test yet, which rules out using the motorway so therefore obviously I am still on a 125 and on top of that, it is still restricted so what can I do really???

it wont be much fun been on the motorway with a restricted bike!

but what kris said sounds about right. Its a fecking stupid rule anyway! its not as if you are tested on it in your test, so even if you had passed your test you wouldnt be anymore experianced on motorways than you are now!

You would be taking a risk, its up to you. Generally i try to keep off the motorways as much as possible. if you go on the motorway just be sensible and dont give the police a reason to pull you over.

In my experience if you act as if you are meant to be there and you don't do anything stupid then plod will have no reason to pull you over.

It's just about blagging it really Razz Even if you are pulled, if you act calm and tell a few white lies then you'll be okay.

Or, if he knows about bikes and it's derestricted, 'Why were you doing 100mph on a restricted bike' Smile

I don't think you should need to touch the motorways from where you are... From Reading I go down teh M4->A329M but don't touch another motorway after that.

Yeah, get the NSR derestricted.

If you dont want to take the L's off, then leave them on. Ive been to boxhill when I had the NSR on L's and when it was restricted. Ok, we might disappear off down the road, but everyone waits at roundabouts and junctions.

And newbie: Chances are they'll be "oh yeah right" I wouldnt really fall for that one if i was a cop.

I kept off the motorways mostly, but I did use them when it was a complete pain not to, and I know someone will most likely have a go at me/ us for saying how using motorway when not allowed, but as newbie said, its a risk. Just like speeding.

The thing is, when using a motorway, you are strictly NOT INSURED!!! So when someone hits you or you hit them, there is a large bill comming your way!!!!

It's funny how people flame me whenever I say "I can't be bothered to wear leather jeans 'cos I'm only popping down to the shops (on the bike)", but they still suggest that people ride down the M'way without a licence...are the chances of dropping the bike on the M'way at speeds in excess of 70mph greater than the chances of travelling 2 miles at 30mph? Confused

Well, I *think* that there are more accidents off motorways than on them arent there? Question

If you just use the motorway sitting in the nearside lane at like 60mph then your a pretty safe bet. It's all a case of what you feel happy doing.

Yes, but I think the point Tin is making is that he gets ripped to bits for admitting to riding in jeans (which is entirely legal) while a bunch of people are encouraging folk to ride with no licence and no insurance... bit hypocritical really.

different people have different views though Smile chances are the people that yell at you for wearing jeans probably wouldnt agree with this post either...

I doubt anyone who posted here encouraging motorway use without a lisence are the ones yelling at you for not wearing your leathers.

I have no leathers as of yet so to me jeans are perfectly exceptable as they are probably the next best thing.

bendy is right, just do the god damn test instead of looking for loop holes, and making up excuses that you can say to mr plod

once you have a licence, its done, forever (unless your name is zim) you can use any road, legally, and not worry, and its only once, so just do it Smile

plus the longer you leave it, the older you are gonna be, whilst stuck on 33bhp, just do the test, get it sorted, and start that 2 year clock ticking Smile

Erm? Insurance is invalid if you are over the speed limit? can someone agree/ disagree. If you have a crash and they say you were speeding your insurance will still pay wont they?
