rs50 help

hey, im having trouble with my 2000 rs50, i was riding to work this morning everything seemed ok, i already had rode about 7 miles and was close to work as i come up an island, ive tried to accelerate and it felt like the petrol had ran out, so i thought damn, ran out of petrol but looked in tank and there was still half a tank.. finally managed to push it the rest of the way to work were i checked the plug was sparking etc but inside the plug there was loose bits of metal which didnt look like they had broken off (i am using a iridium spark plug which is 0.01 gap difference to the recommended if that has nethin to do with it) but it has been running for about 2months on that plug. neways i checked petrol was getting through, and petrol was fine, plug seemed ok, tried to bump it and it jus starts and wants to die, i aint got a clue whats wrong im just wondering could it be the plug before i buy 1 or piston/barrel, ne help is appreciated, thanks

Not sure, maybe the choke sticking.
You did put it on reserve yeah?
Got 2T?
Got engine oil?
What do you mean by some bits were ‘in’ the plug?

I’m not to up on the Aprilia RS50, why not talk to a mechanic and explain what you have here.
It doesn’t sound too severe, but it could be a number of different things.

ive never heard of bits breaking off a iridium plug, thats normally your piston or piston rings which have broken down (same happend to my speedfight) you will of lost compression or it might be starting to sieze up. also make sure the plug is sparking.

take the plug out, stick your finger over the plug hole and try to start it, and if your finger gets pushed away quite hard then compression is fine. It sounds more like fuel is not getting to the engine. Possibly carb needs cleaned or the reeds are blocked.

Does the RS50 have a kill/limit switch? I had this problem with RS125 and i had the limit switch pressed.

lol!! i must have still been very drunk from the night before (my only excuse ) i put diesel in the bike and my bike didnt like it very much, emptied the tank put petrol in, still wont start because the diesel must be stuck in the sump etc, dammn.. what a bitch
