 |

Just been thinking after a shitty pikey thing today, who keeps thier house/ flat keys with thier wallet, and do you have your address on anything in your wallet?
A load of our stuff got nicked outta the college minibus, and a mates bag had thier keys and wallet in it, and a membership card had thier home address on it, to which then got broken into with the keys, and they then tried to nick thier new car
Just food for thought, cos I'm no longer carrying my address with me.
Any had problems like this before? |

thats a bit like carrying your pin number around with you next to your bank cards
I usually just have my keys in my pocket so if i did lose them no one would really know what to do with them. Although im getting so many keys to various different vehicles its getting rather uncomfortable |

Well you all know about my wallet!
My keys were on that, and there wasn't an address for my flat at the moment, but my driving license was in there with my home address on it, so if they had have been my house keys, then I would have been stuffed. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

It's probably best to change the locks anyway. Or at least start taking extra precautions, like bolting doors at night etc.
Especially if the cards have been used. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

Stephen, I went to get another key cut for my NSR and they wouldn't cut me one without a copy of the V5 and then they said they had to send it off to Honda, something to do with people copying keys then going back to rob the car/bike a few days later.
Similar sort of thing happened to my uncle's car a few years back. He has a Nissan QX, which is like a 3 litre top of the range executive jobby, worth about £40k. He'd had it about a week, came out of work one day and some fucker had nicked his petrol cap Strange he thought, but what it was in the end, someone who knows how to cut keys can actually make a copy of a key from the lock on the petrol cap, and seeing as on his car the same key was for the ignition as the petrol cap, they basically have a spare key for the car. A couple of months went by, then woke up one morning and car gone. It was recovered, with no damage whatsoever, but the insurance company had already paid out and he'd got a new one. ____________________ A big enough hammer fixes anything! |

The thing that always buggs me is that keys always identify the bike / lock make. If I drop my keys (ok without the imoboliser fob which is in the other pocket) it identifies my bike as a cagiva with an oxford lock jus because manufacturers insist on branding the keys with their name!
I dont suppose I am paranoid enough to start soldring them off but in the giant fight against bike crime its a small point. ____________________
