Bulb upgrades

I'm looking to upgrade the lights on the FZ6-S what with the clocks going back and darker evenings. Lighting configuration is 1 X H1 on left hand side (permament dip) and 1 X H4 on right hand side (head)

Does anyone have a recommendation on any specific bulbs? I've seen the attached link on e.bay; seems like a good deal but are coloured bulbs legal and are there any better alternatives? I'm not looking for any elaborate mods, just to swap the two standard bulbs for something brighter but still road legal.

I'm told you have to put the same wattage back in so as to avoid frying the reflectors and/ or the wiring.

I had them Blue vision bulbs in both my car and bike and they only lasted a couple of months before they blew. I wouldn't reccomend them at all specially for the price. The 50% brighter bulbs are better as they don't have the coating on the bulb that is responsable for the short life span.

Blue bulbs are illegal.

Also means you can look like the police etc if you're going over bumpy ground. People may slow down in front of you, but don't expect them to get out of your way.


Also means that when it really is the emergency services, people are less likely to be sure it is.

The bulbs on the link do have something call an E marker or E certification - I understood this to be confirmation that they are road legal in this country but I might be wrong on that.

They're not pure blue as the packaging might indicate but a brighter white with just a tinge of blue I believe.

the bulbs are quite blue, but it does not give blue light, it gives an more intensive white light instead of the normal yellow one

i just picked up a pair of the "blue xeon bulbs from ebay for my 96 gsxr srad going to toss them on tonight so u can see what they look like

Wow, $9.99 for a 8500k bulb. Are they UK legal?

I'm doing a bikesafe course on Saturday week and think I'll hold off buying anything until then; hopefully the cops there will give me some more advice and also clarification on what is and isn't legal.
