Along the lines of

I really do feel the need to write to you all and tell you about this situation.
I received my full un-restricted licence back in March this year after almost 6 years of being on a provisional, struggling to save the money for the lessons and test whilst battling through the loss of two bikes and vandalism with little or no help from my local police force.
Recently I have noticed an increase in high performance vehicles used by the police in the Cheltenham/Gloucestershire area including top spec Mercedes, Honda’s, Range Rover’s and the newest recruit being the 187mph Suzuki Hayabusa mentioned recently in your paper.
Which, and I quote “Gave some raised eyebrows whilst riding”, I bet.

I saw a few letters come in last week mentioning road users being caught exceeding 100mph on uk roads and not receiving a ban or points etc.
Well I am now writing to you because of my situation and how amazed I am at the harshness of the hidden penalties that I now face.
I was caught out by a new scamera on my daily commute, unfortunately for me I had carried 3 points over from a previous offence which means that I will have my licence revoked.
Looking into the process to get back onto the road after exceeding the speed limit by 9mph on a dual carriageway, it appears I am looking at something in the religion of £300 and £350 to regain my full licence.
The speeding was indeed my fault, but I am finding it hard to come to terms with the penalty I am facing for it. Such a small margin of error and such a huge price to pay, it looks as if it will be a hard few months ahead.

Nicely done Killa.

I have to be honest, and say that I didn't think you'd get it published. Fair play mate.

Also means I'm going to have to go buy the damn thing now.... You should probably be on commission. Laughing

Thanks Keith

I didn’t think it would be printed either TBH, the point of the letter wasn’t so the DVLA would send me the licence back, just a rant I guess, wasn’t even the full story.
Good to see it got in there though, no idea why some of you take the piss, seems to be a constant battle on here lately.
Hope you enjoy the read.

Are you prepared for the replies like you received on here in next weeks paper, for the whole country to read?

You got caught by the system to stop people getting points on their license within two years of passing your test, you knew what the law said and you got caught.

I know that you're angry Killa, but to write in to MCN about it after what's already been said to you on here... Confused

Do people write into MCN to get free pens or signed photo’s of Rossi then? Um NO actually!

I don’t give a flying fuck what you think Adam, yourself and a choice few others type the same babble in my direction just to be difficult, it becomes tiresome, it’s easy to state the facts of life to me, why just, not bother eh?

If your licence was taken away I doubt very much you’d just think ‘Oh well I’m a twat la la laaa’ and post a thread on here saying ‘Licence revoked, oh darn it’ Rolling Eyes
Of course you wouldn’t you fucking doughnut, you can’t ride your bike you’ve been saving and dreaming of for 5 or more years, can’t go to work on your own (or for some, loose your job), can’t go visit no one, cant do fuck all really.

Yeah I’m angry, you don’t know the full story of the unhelpfulness of the pigs in fact I know you don’t really care, so why reply? Why take the piss when you really haven’t got anything interesting to say?
Adam: ‘Killa you broke the speed limit so you get points ok’ Clapping fucking have a medal!!

I’d love to pile the shit I’ve had from them on to you for saying that, but I can’t, oh life’s unfair eh?.
I really don’t understand some of you, my close friends say they feel the point system is a little OTT when it comes to the new rider thing even though I have in effect been riding for around 6 years, they know I was breaking the limit but understand I was being a reckless twat who speeds everywhere at all times.

After a lot of struggle to get where I am today, for them to take it all away in an instant is quite hard to take, just my personal thing, as bikers on a biking forum unfortunately for you lot you’ve had to listen to me go on so I apologise for that.

Adam is a fairly sensible guy. I think if he was within 3 points of losing his licence he'd be very careful.

Just interested, but what is the full story i.e. where were you caught speeding/limits etc.

You dont need to post details here, just a link to the inevitable original thread will do. Thumbs Up

If you stick to 100% of the law 100% of the time. It's highly unlikely you'll lose your licence through any fault of your own.

I think for 99.9% of people the full stop should be relocated thus....

How come it is going to cost you so much money to redo your test then?

I was under the impression that a test was £40 odd. Confused Do you have to redo the written one as well?

I haven't been following the threads on this because frankly, I could do without the bickering.

Well, some do, its a perk of writing in a getting it printed.

I know you don't, shame you didn't give a fuck about how many points you'd got before you got lairy with the happy grip.

No, I wouldn't you're right about that, but then, I wouldn't choose to moan about it on the forum full stop. And I certainly wouldn't write to MCN about it. But then, that's just me.
I've literally (this last week as it happens) come to the end of my two year 6 point period of provision so that if I receive over that amount of points I don't get my licence revoked. But, when I passed my test, I knew what the law stated about losing it. I don't have the money to take it again, nor the time at present, so, I made the choice to be careful, so that I didn't lose it. (I'm sure I've pointed all this out to you before killa)
But you already had 3 points prior to this, so at what point in your mind did you think you ought to be more careful?

Then your 'close friends' are pandering to your childish whining. You clocked up more points than you were allowed under the current system, and you now have to pay the price. Im not trying to be on a moral high horse about it, but you don't seem to listen to what people are telling you. Is it the exhuberence of youth? If they were real friends maybe they'd have told you to slow down just a little bit so that you wouldn't be in this situation. Thinking

Yes, I agree, I understand, something else you don't seem to be listening to when I say it. But... it doesn't alter the fact that its been and done now. So why keep going on about it and make plans for how you intend to get it back quickly and easily...? Just a thought. Wink

He has to start from scratch, right back to applying for his provisional licence, then CBT, theory etc......

Hey cock muncher I have, and you quoted it.

If you read my first reply, I clearly stated this is no longer a plea for licence back or whatever, but merely a rant I’d like to tell other bikers about. I sent the letter to MCN the same time as I was dealing with the posting of my revoked licence so I’m not ‘still’ going on about it.
Keith started this thread Adam, the only reason I have to keep going on about it is because of the amount of smug comments I get from the likes of you telling me that speeding is an offence, in case I forget.

Adam_P wrote:

I know it is all done now but I’d like to make it clear to other bikers what the deal is with the penalties you’ll face afterwards. Unless you are truthfully an inexperienced goon who obeys every law set down 100% I guess I can understand, but I reckon your not, and you’re just here to take the pish.

Of course I knew the law and believe it or not the top end of my bike is not tested on every road I ride on, I was merely going to work ‘with’ traffic and didn’t spot that they had moved the van to a new location, conveniently hidden behind some foliage and not in view on original lay-by position.
You will probably go on to say ‘But you knew they have it there sometimes, speeding is wrong ok killa ner ner’ that’s irrelevant Adam and you fucking know it, you ARE on a high horse riding it’s bell-end as you can now feel more confident on the road knowing you can tot up 12 points with no bother.
As said before, regardless of whether you could achieve 2 years of not being caught in ‘my’ area once, you would be annoyed if they took your licence, how annoyed you are is a personal thing, I have apologised.

Killa, i think you are a dude and all but i would have to agree with Adam. 3 Points off a ban is treading on fine water.

When i got caught speeding i stuck to every speed limit religiously as i knew 3 more and i was out of the game.

Confused

Mike, dont take this personaly, 'cos i think your a decent guy, but dont you think its time to let this die?

Your not the first to loose a liscence.
You wont be the last.
Stop making an issue of it.

Im also on 3 points, and i saw that as the point to think "Woah, slow it down" (well actually it was my g/f, i just listened to her for once), but with a year left of my probation period, i cant afford to loose it. If however i do get another 3 points, yes i would be absoltely gutted, but it would be my fault for being an idiot. And yes, i would probably post a little note here saying what a tit i have been. But i would also admit it being my fault, and take the punishment like a man.

I realy hope that this is your crowning moment and that you feel proud of yourself for getting into MCN, and realise its about time to shut the f,ck up, sit the hell down and get that push bike serviced.

Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh, hope to see you back on the road soon Mike, and look forward to that rideout Thumbs Up

Killa mate,
I can understand how incredibly pissed off you feel about this whole matter.

I could say you have been unlucky, but to be honest with you as someone whom I have never met, even you might have had an inkling that this was on the cards.

I used to look at your sig and think, 'For Christ's sake be careful, hang on in there a bit longer until you are home & dry and got your 2 years under your belt!'

I've got until May 6th 2006 to keep a clean sheet, but I know that this could be snatched away from me if I am 'unlucky/stupid/unaware' enough to be caught twice.
I could be pootling down past my local cop hotspot and get snapped riding into town and riding out within an hour of each other and 'Bang', there goes my licence.

So, I can understand how it can happen so easily.

So, take a deep breath, carry on with your plan to regain your licence (good luck with that by the way!) and try your very best to keep hold of it once it's in your clammy mitts!

Wink
