PostPosted: 14:03 - 04 Nov 2005    Post subject: Neighbours+bike problems Reply with quote

I recently moved house, moved to a quiet road near bromley,
thinking of the neighbours, i push my bike all the way to the end of my road and start it, let it idle from 30seconds to a minute.
The other day i found a note of my bike, my mums boyfriend read it and threw it away, i think it was slightly abusive.
then i suddenly find a brand new screw in my tyre one morning, its got no scratches on the face at all, so i cant have ridden on it.
then a bloke comes to my door and speaks to my mums boyfriend.
I dont want to upsett neighbours which is why i have agreed to push it even further up the hill.
but i dont like the idea of someone putting a screw in my tyre again.
hopefully ill pick up this RXS100 for commute

I'm presuming you're riding with a race can, can't you just buy a baffle for it?

Never tried it but i don't think it would be too hard to screw a screw into a tyre.

at 4:30am i try and make as little noise as possible, the bike just idles, i do not rev it all all, you can ride it at basically idle speed till i get to the mail road.
he also said i rev it hard going up the main road, which i never ever do.
cold tyres and its usually wet.
of course when its a suitable time of day i can give the bike a bit of stick on my way home.

RXS100? Why one of those? Aren't they 2 strokes which will make just as much noise? Confused Why not a 125 4T?

Putting screws in your tyres isn't the answer.
Go and talk to the guy, see if he has any problems and try to sort them out as civilised as you can.
If it escalates, mention that him damaging your property is an offense and you will tell the police next time. Catch him in the act if you can.
No more problems.

I dont know if it was that bloke who has done it, and i dont wanna go accusing people.
if it happens again, ill go bloody mad, they cant plug screw holes either. i had to put a Rennsport (like supercorsa) on there.

Is it just me that reckons that you should just ride it as normal every morning?

I mean, would they complain about a car being started and driving up the road, probably not.

It's more than likely because you've got a bike, and they don't like bikes, they're dangerous things them bikes*

I'd just carry on regardless, there's sod all they can do about it, its perfectly legal, you're not using your horn or anything else out of the ordinary.

If they're that desperate, buy them all a set of ear plugs to sleep in.

* Please note: this is sarcasm... Wink

If its got a race can, then I think that needs to be muffled before you can become the victim in this.

Its shit, but true unfortunatly :/

My neighbours beef about my bike all the time.

Its a bandit with a STANDARD quiet can on it.

They can go fuck themselves.

I dont try to antagonise them I just set off and ride as normal.

I park my bike outside the neighbours house accross the road, changed to there fence and the lampost they have been very nice to me evern when ive had 2 bikes parked there. In the morning i do roll it down the road abit because i know they are retired and probably wont be un at 7 even though my bikes not loud its just the principle.

I would get some evidence, like his notes and contact the police if he does it again

its your property, its your form of transport.

you dont rev it mad early in the morning, and you wheel it up the road!

ive had somone from across the road come out and tell me to keep it down a touch at about 11 on a saturday night. no problem as was just on my way anyway.

i would just start using it as you would a car, start it up when u want to go and stop this pushing malarky. Shocked

is the exaust road legal btw? Smile

The truth being that

A. youve tried to be nice and push it up the road before you start it up of a morning
B. Its got you a nasty letter, a talking to and a hundred quid new tyre.

Means to me that you should give up being nice and just do what any normal person would do, start it up outside your house and go about your buisiness. Assuming your bike is road legal that is. Im guessing you live in a flat and the bike is kept outside? If so this will work to your advantage, firstly tiptoe around the neighbours until you get the camera set up, then start warming the bike up outside your house and hammering it up the road. I bet you the same night the guy comes back with his screwdriver.

On a personal note, Im not an angry or violent person. I dont care if anyone living around me likes the fact I ride a bike or not, I dont particularly care if I get on with them or not. In this case someone has put a screw in your tyre, so from now on they are all enemy number one. Once you have your camera set for evidence, if anyone comes to have a nice little chat about your bike explain the circumstances and politely tell them to fuck off - it will weed out the people who are annoyed and the people who are seriously pissed off enough to do something like putting a screw in your tyre.
