i class my self as a petrol head.
i like things with engines.
i will always know that cars are better than bikes for some things.
and bikes are better than cars for a couple of things.
but i dont play with either of them to "be part of something"
i have joined two clubs in my life and i met the same people in them.I dont mean the exact same people but the same kind of people you know the ones, the people to whom the club is more important than the reason for having the club, you know the type ducati riders ,harley riders etc. Smile

Right now I just love bikes.

Why am I not a biker?

I havnt passed my test, ridden on anything than a 125, never taken them apart etc. I'm still learning to ride.

When I can do all that, will I be a biker? I dont know.

If you're saying that "connection" when you get a nod and return a nod makes you a biker, then you need to know that people nod at each other in kit cars etc.

Hell, people with full face beards nod to each other, or give an understanding smile. Does that make them a bearder? Or an official reckognised being with a beard?

My oppinion of a biker, is a bloke thats on his bike 99% of the time when he/she has to go anywhere - be it on a shiny 100% working bike, or a dirty bike thats on its last legs.

Just my take on it.

In other words, he is not getting drawn into (another) 'What is a biker?' discussion. Which is what is going to happen.

Might as well have stated that shaft drive bikes can't wheelie.

Biker.
i suppose some people would see me as a stereotypical biker aswell,
blue jeans black t shirt, or black jeans and t shirt,
leather waist coat, long hair, and unshaven half the time, big boots,
cut off denim over my leathers,
listen to old metal, sabbath purple, dio , zeppelin and so on
ridden bikes on and off road since i was semi little,
I like reading ogri,
hate vespa type bikes,
friends are bikers, I like to bodge, i can weld Smile
I can mend my own bike, im happy getting my hands mucky fiddling with it if it needs it,
my bikes mucky but thats only cos the weathers been that crap ive not been able to.
im happy when on my bike no matter what the weathers like.
i get with draw symtoms when i cant ride,
i dont worry about money, only happy when i have a full tank so i can drain it on a long trip,

i suppose some might say with me its a way of life,, i just say im just me, i dont follow fashion, i follow what im comfortable with and what makes me happy.
I'm just an Honest hard working bloke. who has earned respect of those who respect me, i dont get respect because i look like a biker
thats not how it works

I like bikes, I like cars, both have their plus points.

I do tend to ride more than drive, but I am not one of those that hates cars at all costs.

Both have their merits.

Without reading the whole bloody thread, in my opinion, one of the traits of a 'biker' is getting back on one after a serious accident and carrying on riding.......... Cool
