ZX6R (1998) Stolen Daventry 7th Nov

Some bastard stole by 1998 ZX6R from my closed garage today in Daventry. It was the traditional Kwak Green with a Quill Exhaust and it good condition. The registration number starts V707, if you see it around Northamptonshire or Warwickshire please call the police or me on 01327 301152.

The garage was sadly unlocked as I was drying some laundry in there earlier in the day so I am screwed from an insurance perspective.

You'd be covered if you left it somewhere else not locked.

What if you'd just unlocked the garage to get the bike out, and went back inside and got busy doing something else.

That's not a problem.

I'm sure you're not obliged to keep it locked 24/7.

You'll still get a decent claim out of it I'm sure.

Check the small print in the policy - I was checking for some on-line quotes today and noticed that if a bike was in a garage the insurance company stipulated that the garage MUST be locked between the hours of 1800 hrs and 0800 hrs - not sure if they were the exact hours but it seems that if the garage is left unlocked during daylight hours then thats ok! Deffo worth going through that policy with a fine tooth comb. Best of luck Thumbs Up

Some policies do actually state that if its the home address, it must be in a locked garage for theft cover to be in force no matter what time it is.
