You can ride a 125cc on just a CBT as long as you are 17+ with a provisional. And insurance etc.

You're not allowed a pillion without doing some form of a test. You can do a light motorcycle test, which allows you to take pillions and take your L plates off but nothing more.

Hope that helps.

You need a full licence to carry a pillion, just a cbt isn't enough.

You can ride a 125 (if you are 17 or over) on a cbt. No theory test is needed, just turn up at a riding school, pay them £80-120 and do your cbt.

i think in england, you can ride a 125 with only a CBT, but you arnt allowed to carry a pillion. Once you do both your theory and practical, you can take a pillion on your 125

You can ride a 125cc on a cbt as long as it has no more than 14.6hp/11kw power. To take a passenger you must have a full license, or an A2 license (utterly pointless, as it is the same as category A, but restricted to 125cc) and pillion insurance, regardless of capacity.

Not that I ride a 125 but: Yes you can have a pillion, if you pass the appropriate test (A2?)

Second one, if you want a pillion you have to take a test therefore also the theory.

A2 isn't a type of licence, I believe that's the test, and the A2 is the 33bhp restricted one.

A1 is the light one.

A is a car test I believe.

yer i have a gixxer,

was going to take my restricted liscence and get my bike to 33bhp for a few months, then get taken off, but i think this might be a bad idea as i felt how powerful it was on saturday, so im after a 125 or 250cc for now so i can get use to them before i go bigger!!

Yeah, do a CBT, rag a cheap 125 around until you're happy with that. Then do your A2, GET THE GIXXER RESTRICTED. For a few months, then when you're happy, whip them out, and away you go.

A is full bike licence, whether it's 33bhp restricted or not. The restricted licence used to be A2 licence. A1 is light motorcycle which allows carrying of passengers and motorway use on machines up to 125cc. It's the same test but taken on a 70cc-100cc bike.

The car licence is category B.
