Went to france this year with a mixture of soft luggage and hard luggage between the bikes. Hard luggage definately less of a pain the arse to get on and off.
I had the Oxford gear and used Pac-Safe wires and meshes to keep casual 'zip feelers' off my case, seemed to work well. The MAJOR downside is the time it takes to get the gear on/off the bike!!
1 mate had a Speed Pack which was EXCELLENT for take on and take off, highly recommended over 'normal' soft luggage.
Other mate had standard givi hard luggage on a frame. This was no more secure than either of our soft luggage selections when combined with the Pac Safe stuff to attach to bike and clamp zips down. BIG advantage was the time it took to unpack and pack the bike.
Me = 15 mins to pack the bike with Oxford luggage
Mate 1 = 5 mins to pack the bike with Speed Pack
Mate 2 = 30 seconds??? (a guess, certainly under a minute)
