My name is Annabella and I have been owning an NSR RK (it's my pride and joy, it's blakc and purple and pink and green - [like Joseph's technicolour dreamcoat!!!] original Honda colours) for about three months now. First thing I did was change the fork seals, on account of there being large puddles of oil around my beautiful bike and no front suspension (I'm only about 7 stone, so it's not that before you go accusing me...), anyhow, I had no idea how much oil to put in....so I kind of emptied the bottle into the forks...Has anyone got idea how much I actually should put in?
Also I don't have a manual, and I don;t want one of the photocopied nasty ones they stock at all my local bike shops (I would wreck it...oil, etc), so where can I get a proper one (without having to burglerise anybody)?
I think that's about all I wanted to ask, I'm sure I'll think of something else when I am more awake.
Byeeeee....

I'll have to get some pictures taken I see,But ONLY when I get some sensible info!..... Fat lot of help you guys were - cheers!
I said, they'd be something I had forgotten - my bike is really pretty, but it would be much nicer with a fairing Sad (And before you ask, no it wasn't me that dropped it!), where can I get a black one from (other than M&P cos the guy I get M&P stufff through won't sell me a fairing..."Oh no you want to wait until we break one...etc etc")

Hi
I managed to pick up a manual for an early NSR125RK at the Stafford classic bike show. Not sure where you are based, but sometime in Feb there is a classic Japanese motorcycle show at Donnington and the chances are you will be able to find one there. I paid £25 for mine, but I have seen them cheaper since then (typical).
The amount of oil is important, as it affects the air gap above the oil in the forks. Put less oil in and you land up increasing the air gap and getting softer forks. There should be 280cc of oil in each fork. This should result in a gap of 130mm from the top of the fork to the oil level, and that is measured with the spring removed and the fork full compressed. You are also meant to pump the fork up and down a few times before measuring the level (get rid of any air trapped in the system). Honda specify ATF (Automatic transmission fluid, also used as power steering fluid in cars) for the forks.
For the fairing you will have problems. New will be very expensive, and 2nd hand in the right colour is not that likely (from memory I think the RK was not sold in black officially in the UK). If you still have the remains then think about getting them repaired. I had a bike resprayed locally by <A HREF="https://www.arnoldsfairings.co.uk/">https://www.arnoldsfairings.co.uk/</A> who did a good job for not much money (Dudley area).
All the best
Keith

Funnily enough I live just south of Stafford (kind of nearish Wolverhampton) so that's pretty local to me. I don't have any bits of the fairing, the guy who owned the bike before me took it to work and left it there when he got a new job - dunce!
Is that Donnington near Telford? Or the other one...
Anyways - THANK YOU!!!!!

Hi
Well, if you can find the remains of a fairing then use that to get repaired. He did a good job on a Cagiva Freccia for me about 2 years ago, and charged £267 for a complete respray (in original colours, including making up the stickers) with some plastic welding needed. He has got a bit more expensive, but well worth using. He just did some plastic welding on some bodywork for me and charged £100 (fair bit needed), with no paintwork (want to use it as a pattern to get some fibre glass copies made).
I live in Derrington, just outside Stafford. Drop me an email direct and we can arrange for you to have a look at the manual to decide if it is worth buying a copy. I work in Kingswinford (neat Dudley) so go down through Wolvo every day.
The show is at Caslte Donnington, at the race track. I believe the date is the 17th feb. Never been to that show before, but the Stafford show at the end of the year has plenty of more modern stuff there (the one earlier in the year tends to be alot older bikes).
All the best

the best bet is to get one of those photocopied workshop manuals from your local dealer, they might not have one there, but they will probably be able to get you a photocopy for you, then just put it in plastic sleves, that will stop the oil messing it up Smile

That's a hell of a lot of plastic sheets Smile.. my NSR manual is around 100 pages. I've just stuck mine in a (half) decent ring binder... it shouldn't be significantly more succeptable to oil than a normal manual.
Oh yeah.. I've finally sorted a scanner out so I *might* get round to scanning mine, as I said I would ages ago.

yeah it would be cool if you could scan it, maybe it could be put up on the site, so that people could print it themselves?? yeah good point about the sleves but if you put it in plastic sleves then in a decent folder it would be better than the proper thing Smile

The problem with scanning it is time... never mind the actual time spent to scan 200 sheets of A4... I wouldn't be able to post it as a bmps/jpgs due to space and download speed, which means I'd proably have to OCR it then maybe convert to HTML or <spits/> Acrobat.

LOL Kornel
My better half would kill me. Mind you she gets tempted to kill me for the number of original manufacturers workshop manuals I have floating round (even bought one for the Yamaha GTS1000 to have a look at the bits on the injection, only to find out that the injection and ABS is in a seperate manual)
Maybe I should spend a bit more time scanning them in!
All the best

I agree with Andrew if some one would scan in a manual that would be cool, but other than that it looks like I may have to see if I can get issued a P45 for misuse of the laminator at work!
Hey Kornel - how do you know I'm young?.......Oh, yeah, I ride a 125...Damn!
Best wishes, thanks!

If you (or anyone else) want any specific bits from the manual I'd be happy to scan them and email them to you. Either post a question here or email <A HREF="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</A> .

I'll see what I can do, but I'm pretty busy over the next coupla weeks:
working for the next 7 days.. then away for the weekend, back to work.. then got to go to London to get my passport to go abroard the weekend after that.
I haven't even got round to installing my scanner and I'm missing a coupla CPUs (kinda fried them), so my computers are all a bit messed up.

Hi
I have a copy of the NSR125RK manual. I havent got time to scan it all, but I could do a few sections. Maybe we could agree to do alternate chapters or something?
All the best
Keith

Yeh, we'll have to sort something out. I haven't even tried my scanner yet though.
The CPU's I've got Out of Action are a 1.4Gh Athon which is currently being replaced and two more that I've got to sort out. I've got enough stuff too build at least one K6 pc, but I've got to get round to sorting it out.
