As you may or may not know, im not really a biker......not yet anyway.
My aim was to get my test done in september, but money problems and the like skuppered that idea.
Now, with the iminant sale of my surfboard, and some other income i can afford to do my DAS.
However with no prior experience of riding, im not sure whether to hang on till better weather, or just go balls out and learn to ride in the wet with leaves on the road etc?! Also as a new rider after my DAS, this is going to be a hazardous time to be a new rider.
Do you think i should
A:just do my test and get on with it?
B:Get the test out of the way, and then begin riding in spring?
C: wait till the weather is not so shitty before learning at all?
Its not that i intend to be a fair weather rider, but i feel learning whilsts the roads are greasy and wet could be a bit of a faux pas, as i have no other experience to fall back on if it does go awry. Also doing the test now, and getting back on the bike in better weather could also be a silly idea, as i will have been out of touch with the bike for a while and unconfident on the bike?
I dunno,
So what do you reckon? ____________________ Its Not a Melon, Its Clearly a Lime!!

Lots of people are just doing there tests now. I did mine 3 weeks ago, in the soaking wet (couldnt see as the sun was out shining on the soaked ground )
I think doing this would help you be more observant too. You would get used to looking for spillages, leaves etc. so when next winter comes around you're already aware of anything trying to knock you off.

If it was me, I'd have to do it when I had the money or I'd ending up spending it on something else.
I did the first 2 days of my DAS in the cold, hard rain of January. It was hard work, and to be honest I probably thought about quitting at one point or another.
With hindsight, I never get worried when it's wet these days. It's like rain is 'normal', and dry is super-sticky.
It'll no doubt be easier if you wait until the spring/summer, but where's your sense of adventure? ____________________ - Yeah, you know the type, loud as a motorbike, wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight.

It's not like extreme death, going out in the wet y'know.
The right gear in the right weather makes all the difference in the world.
Other than that, just avoid painted lines and drain covers (Or ride straight over if you can't avoid) and you'll be fine! |

Get your test done now, the wet is not as bad as it sounds and it's much easier to see diesel
Once your test is done, you can then take your time over getting a bike but remember that bikes are cheap in the winter !!!
Good luck.
Cheers

I'd recomend leaving it 'till february/march time after the worst of winter has passed. That way you still get the experience of iffy road conditions before the summer, but you don't get conditions so bad that they'll be very dangerous to a new rider. And this way, you're less likely to bin your bike.

Just do it!!!!!!
I did my CBT in like terrential rain and going down a dual carriageway i didnt want to take my hand off my handle bar to put my visor down so i didnt.
I was shitting it but it was an experience, and when the rain came the first time that i was out by myself it wasnt a big deal and when the summer comes round you will be a biker and can experience the summer to the full rather than learning and then shitting it when it starts to rain.

Ride on a CG125 in the pouring rain with no brakes and which will stall (and not restart) if you close the throttle and you'll soon wish you had a bigger bike on the road.
Pass your test as soon as you can, you won't regret it. ____________________ I must not be a troll...
