There's an article in this week's mcn that has highlighted a problem with the seals in the forks which can fail, causing under-damping. I haven't been able to find the article online as the MCN website is turd. Nip down to your newsagents and have a read...

It must be true if MCN said it.

Don't really buy the MCN much anymore, it's a bit sensationalist. Having said that, I did pick it up today for the first time in months. Laughing

Hi

Reading the article it looks like a bit of a cock up.By the sounds of it some of the damper rods have been left unfinished (rather than being anodised) and are now a poor fit resulting in oil getting past where it should not.

I have doubts that Suzuki did this intentionally.

All the best

Keith

Hi,

I expect this is to do with Kawasaki and Suzuki 'sharing technology'.

I'd imagine this is an offshoot of the two companies attempting to integrate their relative build qualities.

Next time buy a Yamaha or a Honda.

I think it acts as a lubricant and water dispersant.

It did sound a little worrying to me, but i didn't know fork innards were anodised anyway. I know the oxide layer of aluminium is stable, but having a thicker layer through the anodising process seems a bit pointless to me...

The forks on my '04 600 have always felt 'jackhammery' over small bumps, despite being set up properly and handling well at speed and over larger bumps. Neutral
