Was going to use them this week.
Have neveer used them if I am in a rush for parts though, they're crap at quick deliveries. And their packaging is amateurish for want of a better word! |

Happened to me a few weeks ago on my debit card. Luckily my bank refused the transaction that the scumbag attempted because it didn't match my usual spending habits.

Sounds like Busters are aware of this, and I expect they will take the necessary steps to stop it from happening again.
Of course, it is up to you whether you want to use them again, but I would be surprised if anyone has the same trouble now that it has been reported.
Busters are a reputable company, and I have had a number of trouble free transactions with them. I think it would be churlish to assume that the whole company is corrupt just because of a few problem transactions...
As I said, be careful what you say, and if you choose to not use Busters then its up to you, but don't make assumptions especially published on a web forum based upon what is said on another forum (especially when what was said was deliberately ambiguous for that exact reason... )

haha sounds good, as soon as im 18 ill get a credit card or something like that, as for fraud i got £95 ripped from my account about a month ago and only got £90 back (the first transaction was £5 from a warner bros cinema around the m25 (near london?) never been up that way before so the bank started watching, then 3 x £30 came out in 3 transactions on a tesco card machine or something (it was a phone topup and they didnt have my bank card which was only a cash card but i can use it online anyways) i didnt get that first £5 back but i got the rest back, not too bothered about a 5er anyway now, for the record though always check the cash machines (atm machines) for shit as the bank recon someone did something witht he machine to read off my card details

Something similar to this happened at a local supermarket near me.
The place had only been open say 6 months, and seemed to be doing well, i'd been there lots, used my card lots... no problems me thinks...
Well in the paper about 6 months after they opened, was a story about their till systems overcharging customers... i thought nothing of it but read on anyway...Turns out, the system had been charging the customer up to 8 times for the same bill. So someone came in spending 100£ on food, 2 weeks later they are £800 down.
The total money taken from bank accounts during the ordeal came to a staggering £17,000
Funny as hell realy, purely because it didnt involve my card ____________________ CBT Aug '03 ... Gilera GSM 50 ... Honda NSR 125 Aug '04 ...

Actually, just thinking about that last post...
I bet there was some bloke in a suit, walking around the staff quarters of the shop shouting "Bloody hell lads, look at this! Christmas bonus's coming early this year! We've been taking more money than any other store in the franchise, and we've only been open 6 months! Nice bloody work guys!"
*Turns up next day in his Ferrari - Maxed out his credit card buying the night before. Chose to go to the garage to fuel his new baby up the next morning instead of his normal haunt to get a paper... turns up to see the headlines splashed around the shop front... "SHOP TAKES OVER £15,000 OF CUSTOMERS MONEY"*

I'd say things like this happen more because of insecure connections on the user side rather than nobheads at the company side.
Being a freelance computer fixer-er(the technical term) it seems to me no one realises how easy it is to get trojans into computers these days.
home users with broadband, without a decent form of firewall (No, XPs firewall is not a good firewall), downloading things that are not entirely legal (everybody does it, some are just more careful). And in a lot of cases, even if you have a software firewall, if the file gets onto your computer through semi legit means, it'll reconfigure ports and things quietly, so you may think you're protected but arent.
Once these programs have buried themselves within your computer they start scanning for anything vaguely profit making for the owner - credit card numbers, bank details, personal details, etc. and relay them automatically to wherever they're configured to go.
The truly scary thing is there are applications on t'internet so that anyone with a limited amount of computer know-how can set something like this up
and scarier yet is that the mafiosa and other organised crime groups are starting to cotton onto this being a very good way to make money.
Moral of the story? LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR COMPUTERS PROPERLY!
Sorry, bit of a rant, but hey, I get paid to fix the same problems over and over again because people just dont learn. ____________________ Shine on, you crazy diamond

why the users side? im not exactly a dumbass when it comes to computers so i know my shit and i bet there are a fare few "nobheads" out there who do screw their accounts up and practically let people into their bank accounts, but i also know that one hell of alot of companys in the past few years have had screw ups so bad its not even funny, all companys fault so not extirely true
i think alot of people know how to secure their computer, just some dont, some are too lazy to do it, some use crap software and few actually dont know how to do it (even though its hard to find a website these days that doesnt spam you to death on "how to secure your computer" and i also know how easy it is to do things with computers like trojans, but every piece of software has a backdoor and its just a matter of time untill someone discovers it, for the record i know a few people that can get into any computer with any software (yes this includes norton and so on) and screw it up, all within 3 minutes (no bullshit)
by the way because you are a "freelance" does this mean that you never went to college? or you went to college and got certs and then setup a shop/home business? or what?
sorry for the rant, just making a point that its not always the users fault, people can trick you (slide stuff in a cash point to read your card without you knowing) or they can "hack" you (take what they want one way or another by force) either way, if its going to happen no one can stop it happening
[/end of rant] |

the most dangerous thing to do is believe your computer is secure, when it isnt.
I use a hardware firewall/router, and very strict port forwarding policies, and firefox, and AVG anti-virus, and spy doctor monitoring but I still check with online virus scans and spybot/ad aware every couple of weeks because it always pays to be cautious.
I'm freelance because I'm a durrrrty sixth former. I have no formal qualifications when it comes to computer stuff, but I've been building/fixing them since I was 10.
(And no, I'm not an overweight spotty geeky type teenager stereotype ) ____________________ Shine on, you crazy diamond

haha, cool, sounds like you've learnt quite a bit over the years, sounds like you need to get yourself in a few college courses and really get into it (somewhere where the big cash is not to mention something your good at, im currently in a city & guilds system support course)
sounds like you got your security setup pretty good aswell.. my college tutor and teachers use all the same type of protection (hardware firewalls and selective ports and so on) we still managed to use telnet from the college computers to mail him that his home pc was down for maintanance (the college blocks the telnet port and his home connection is custom so its pretty hard to get in, but not impossible)
now if only i knew as much about motorbikes as i do about computers... then i would be fine |
