I would like to fit some plastic Moto X hand guards onto my CB250 night hawk commuter hack to keep the winter chill off. I have heated grips but these alone are not good enough, they only heat the inside of your hands.

So I'm wondering if anyone can give information/ links to specific guards that will universally fit onto the bars, ive read somewhere you can get some that fit onto the lever bolts. Theres plenty for sale on ebay at the moment, jsut need to find out which oines fit and are any good Thumbs Up

i bought some muffs like that at the nec for £15 and they are the best £15 I have ever spent on a motorbike item.

Ive had to do a few hours on the motorway recently and they really keep the cold wind and rain off nicely.

They arent unsafe. In the past I have ridden with 2 or even 3 pairs of gloves on to keep my hands warm, but you cant feel the controls properly.

Because the muffs go over your controls, you dont have that problem.

they are really easy to fit. You slide them over the handlebar and then just tighten a nylon webbing buckle to keep it in place. The kind of buckle you get on ruckstrap shoulder straps. buckle may be the wrong word.

Not sure, I would need to see them in the flesh. Possibly that in the event of a crash you couldn't get your hands out quickly. But it's probably unfounded as I can't really picture how they fit your hands. Rolling Eyes

Plus I don't actually see how having your hands free in a crash is a bad thing. Laughing I'm probably being a bit anal.

the bits your hands go in to arent tight so they dont restrict you getting your hands out. they are like putting your hands into a bag

I went to a moto-x store nearby and got some univeral ones, then cut them where needed and screwed each one down and cable tied for good mesure..

Should be easy enough to get some.. just get honda/kawazaki whatever then use your imagination Wink

Only way to have warm hands is heated gloves, hanguard helps allot (had some on my cx) but your hands will allways be looseing heat.. heated grips are only any good if its not so cold...

1. On my bike they are the same price as suzukis own handgaurds and much more effective.
2. Granted, they do look gay.But not as gay as the twat whos hands are too wet and cold to use their brakes.
3. As for them hitting the brake lever you must have them fitted incorrectly? Mine are solid by using the barend screws, they dont move atall. Wink
Lots of courirers use them where i work, so they must be good in someway. Smile

Different brands of muffs fit differently; some dont use any screws at all. Also they are designed universally to fit to all bikes generically, this therefore means they fit some bikes a lot better than others.

So no, I did not fit them incorrectly, on one of my bikes they fitted ok, on another they were crap however i placed them.

FWIW I was once shown a picture of a bike courier who'd made his own muffs from the padded envelopes (I'd say A4 size ish) that the shipping/courier companies use. Guess it's just a case of making a hole in the side for the controls and then fixing on with gaffa tape Thumbs Up

On topic if you can't get bike guards (bark busters or whatever they're called) try looking for those fitted to farm style quad bikes (eBay?).

That is a nice theory, but it doesn't allow for the individual's circulation.

Different people have better or worse circulation.

I wouldn't go telling someone with poor circulation that all they need to do to have warm hands is put on a body warmer.
