I'll be getting a tinted visor when me old wallet allows, for those lovely days where you can see jack shizzle.

What do you use for what occasion and under what conditions.

What are the advantages and disadvantages in your oppinion?

Discuss Wink

Just for you wavey boi

Well dark ones aren't ideal for night time riding. Wink

Tinted for any gloriously sunny days, anything else, a clear visor with a hyperopticks insert.

Iridium, nah, I wouldn't bother, the finish goes after a while I hear. Smile

I do exactly the same, I do however have a blue Iridium visor too. I don't use it very often as it's a wash in the sink job to get it clean with minimal scratches.

The Hyperoptics isn't brilliant for bright sunlight but the anti-fogging is really why I have it.

I use a really dark black visor for most of the summer, an Iridium as the sun gets weaker and then a clear for night/ shite weather.

I always carry the clear with me though, never been pulled on the bike Razz so don't know if it would help from a plod point of view Confused , I do know that it's 'kin difficult trying to ride quickly at night with a black visor though....open or closed Laughing.

I probably don't need the Iridium really, just fancied one and it is a lesser tint than the black, I swear by the black one though, so much better than sunglasses and lets be honest, if you go through a tunnel it's a lot easier to lift a visor than to take off sunglasses on the move Shocked

get a visor carrier if you have a clear and a tinted visor.

its like a cross between a belt and a bumback and will hold a spare visor and nothing else

that way you can change visors if conditions change

i have used a tinted insert, but a tinted visor on ebay wasnt much more so i got one and its better

I usually use an Iradium visor, but now it is getting dark early, and the weather aint so good, i have got my clear one fitted again. The iradium is better than black ones, they look better and when you look through them hey are muck clearer.

I mostly use the black tinted visor. It's good for sunny days and when you don't want people to see you, I also think it looks cool Embarassed . I wanted to buy a mirrorized visor but damn you can't see jack with those!

I've got a clear visor (with Pinlock insert) and a dark visor for my Arai. The dark visor is used most of the time on it as I usually wear my Arai for better conditions. If I know I'm going to be out late wearing it or if it's overcast I'll fit the clear visor and wear sunglasses just in case.

Otherwise I'll be out and about wearing my all wearther Shark.

i always use a dark visor unless its night time or a really dull day.

used to have an irridium but i'm too clumsy with them, i've gone through 3 now in a year, one scratch and they look awful.

always carry the clear one with me on long journeys in my bum bag

My helmet has a flip down half tint visor.

Not dark enough, planning on getting a really dark normal visor next summer.

My own personal experience, get a black visor!

I have 2 lids, my HJC AC10 and my KBC AR1, both of which have not road legal visors.

The Black AC10 visor has better colour definition, in the sense that everything is tinted by simply transmitting less light as you would expect from wearing sunglasses.

The KBC AR1 has a blue irridium visor, which on the inside is coated with a yellow substrate. Consequently anything white will appear yellow so it's bloody darn hard to see at twilight, where most people get caught out. Only got mine because it was 10 quid at the show, and i had a blue lid, which unfortunately didn't have black visor as an option, only irridium.

You may look cool thinking you've got an irridium visor, but in my honest opinion, save youself the money and get the plain black. It's much safer. Besides, i heard that some irridium visors had such a bad colour shift that it was considererd the main contributor to a fatality!

Also, stay away from those shitty visor inserts.

Yeah go for a black tinited visor. I'm sure the iridium visors are for track use only, unless thats what you intend to do.

I use my black visor whenever I can. Obviously, I can't in the rain or at night time as it's too difficult to see. My reason for having one isn't because if the sun though - I just think they look 100 times better. I've not met one person whose face actually suits wearing a helmet. Especially on a sports bike, I think that a clear visor ruins the whole look. With a black visor, the rider and the bike look as one. Whereas when I see someone on a sportsbike with a clear visor, it just looks like a bloke sat on a bike.

I used to have visor inserts...waste of money, so just stick with my clear visor and shades. If I wore a black visor everyone would think I had cold sores! Wink

I've got a helmet with an internal dark visor, it comes into it's own on mornings with low sun, but remember to spray that aswell with the anti-mist srpay, wondered what was going on!
