Went to ride the bike i got for the first time first thing in the morning, got halfway down the road the battery was as flat as a pancake. Got home(eventually) charged it, then got a repeat perfomance. It needed an MOT so i thought 'i know' i'll get them to chuck one in when they carry out the MOT.
Just brought the thing being naive and believed the bloke when he said nothing was wrong with it. NOT HALF....Front wheel needs re-aligning, new fork seal, the headlights are dipped too low, the rear light is stuck to on and there is no speedo light for my nightime jaunts.
So mechanic says 'new battery will see you on your way till you can get some money for the rest' (i am a poor student you see) Halfway home on the thing (its dark now....very) all the electrics cut out and there I am riding along with no lights, no speedo.....NO NOTHING. Then bike dies AGAIN. It is now mechanic shop closing time so am like a dick head in the middle of nowhere. So seems like the bike is drawing power direct from the battery, so am thinking.....no alternator or the wiring is fucked...Just great, does anyone agree!! is there a DIY way to fix this....just the alternator problem. £250 in a day, £3040 last week and £4795 in june. I just want to give up. Any suggestions? Thanks Crying or Very sad

Sounds to me like you're trying to run a bike you can't afford. Why did you choose that one instead of something cheaper to maintain?

Alot of people seem to buy something at the very top of their budget and then don't allow for the running costs.

If I was you I'd try and downgrade to something cheaper. There's not many jobs you can't do yourself though, just buy the parts and you could save a fortune on labor costs.

Just a quick question...

How can the front wheel need aligning?

Rear wheel alignment takes about five minutes, and it doesn't sound like any of those jobs are beyond the home mechanic.

Apart from the electrical one maybe... Embarassed

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
