I tried the Motorcycle Direct website to get a quote on my GSXR 600. I have been using Ebikeinsurance PAYG as a stop gap which turned into 7 months of £120. Ouch.

The website wouldn't quote me because im only 20, 1 quick phone call later and I have an initial quote of £417 TPO. This funnily enough is also my first quote under the grand mark.

The chap on the phone also said - "When you get back to us ask for me and ill see if I can get it down any lower for you" - Hes earned his commission already Cool

So license for 7 months, 1 years NCB coming up in a month, 20 years old with a GSXR 600. PA1 1 postcode is ranked between Bosnia and Basra (and frankly id rather be in either)

Phone for the best deal Thumbs Up

Hi

When I first went with them they happily undercut their web site quote by about £40.

Just had the renewal for the FZR600 from them. 2 years ncb on that policy and it was £85 tpft.

All the best

Keith

I seem to remember them being fairly competitive for me last month, though were eventually undercut by Roadsure who quoted £90 TPFT with 4 years protected NCB. (I'm 21 on a VFR400)

My insurance drops be silly amounts with only 1 years NCB - the trick with MCD is that one of their providers AXA Insurance will only give them a quote with 1+ NCB and they are the only cheaper providers.

While the chap on the phone found the bit about me living in Bosnia funny it never seemed to alter the premium.

£1023 saved/earned in roughly 2 minutes work.

That'll be new carbon bits then

I got my insurance sorted out yesterday with MCD, its gone through with AXA at 200 quid less than anyone else would do it.

Now considering i'm 22, i have no NCB, i've had 6 points on my licence within 5 years and i had an accident this year i'm bloody well impressed.

I know it sounds a lot but 404 quid for TPO with pillion and i'm also aloud to ride other bikes on my policy Shocked Thumbs Up

I thought I would give them a try as I'm just PAYG with Ebike at the moment (£93 a month TPF&T), but Motorcycle Direct just quoted me over £1300! I was nearly sick! Sick For a garaged & alphadotted K4 GSXR 600 on Third Party Fire & Theft. I'm 24 years old with 1 years no claims. Sod that.

I don't know why, but everywhere I turn I get crap quotes. Its not like I live in the bronx or anything, far from it. Buggers. Thumbs Down

*EDIT* - See above post in comparison!? How do they offer that to you, but not to me when I have no points & no accidents that were my fault? I realise you're asking for third party only, but my cheapest TPO quote was over £800!! Bah! The swines! Mad

i thought ebike insurance had given me a good quote, but motorcycle direct beat it by £20 when I said ebike had quoted me £15 less than they actually had.

so thnx for this thread as i wd probably never have got round to ringing them otherwise. its now all paid for

The best bit tho is that i am automatically covered tpo on any bike with the owners permission and i can get euro breakdown cover if/when i need it for a little bit extra. Ebike dont do either of these.

for anyone interested it was £243 with breakdown cover for multibike tpo on rs125,yp250,tt600 with 1 yr NCB and recent full license

and to think i cdnt insure a fiesta for less than £900 !

NCI quoted me £525 with 3yrs NCB for my GSXR600K1 in inner london, garaged, data-toolsystem3 alarm.
Which for me at the time i was 24yrs old i think is good.

I also got a courtesy bike as well.

They are currently dealing with my claim at the moment so ill keep you all posted on how good they when it comes to this.

Try them on 01423-504689 ask for Richard. Razz

Ebike will give cover to ride bikes you do not own.

All the best

they do a friends policy where you have to nominate the bike ahead of time which is your friends

the motorcycledirect you can just ride whatever you want, you arent limited to one that you have informed the company about
