 |
|
started my bike this morning, eventually and it ran fine for the first km or so.
go around a roundabout and suddenly it doesnt like to rev. i had to keep a low gear and keep it above 10k jus to keep accelerating to 40mph...
Everytime the bike went low revs, ie 3k revs it would cut out. It started again no problem but persisted in doing it.
Start my bike up after lesson (when i got to college) and it did, eventually but will only rev to 2,000 revs (the first notch on the rev counter) this is with throttle fully open! if i let go of the throttle it would just cut out again.
So anyone know any possible reasons for this? theres plently of petrol etc lol.
was working fine yesterday  ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk

For goodness sake people, it is not difficult. Do you really think "HELP!" conveys to the reader anything about their likelyhood of assisting you with your problem? Do you know how many threads there are in the workshop section titled "HELP!"? We know you need help, otherwise you wouldn't be posting here.
Also, we are not telepathic. Tell us what sort of bloody motorbike you have. So a good example of a title would be. something like. "CG125 repeatedly stalls and wont rev up"
[/rant] (sorry you copped it Groovearmada but I get pissed off)
As to your problem. Sounds like fuel starvation, could be a number of things such as: Blocked filter, blocked fuel tap, blocked fuel line, blocked needle valve, blocked main jet. I'd work through them in roughly that order. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

Carburettor icing would be my suggestion... ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

Certaily could be carb icing (which indirectly causes fuel starvation )
Only thing is, I get the impression from the post that you are riding through town. Also, I would have expected it to 'sort itself out' for a bit after being stopped for a while. I would have also expected it to be worse at big throttle openings when there is a high flow of cold air rather than at low revs when the pilot circuit should be dealing with a lot of the fueling. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. my route:
after the bike started at 10.55am after a struggle for a couple minutes to get it started i revd the engine a bit in an atempt to warm it up. Pulled away and it felt a little slugish but i jus put this down to being cold (didnt have its cover on last night )
Got to the top of the road, a T junction. Stoped fine, idle'd fine. Pulled away to the right still okie dokie and took it to about 12k revs in 1st, 2nd gears and to about 10k in 3rd before sitting around 6k in forth coming to the first round about.
Turn off first exit still OK, took it to about 14k revs through most gears and end up somwhere around 80mph down the bypass. Come to the roundabout everything went tits up. Change down as usual nothing eventful happened. start going round the roundabout to the last exit and it starts struggling to rev. I know ive got plenty of petrol so make sure im in the right gear and continue, just about.
Come to a set of road works, pull clutch in and bike cuts out at 2k revs or so. "oh fuck". Bike starts up with a lovly roar and away i go. Same thing happens once or twice more and again jus parking the bike up
Well thats my story, i miss riding her already and dont no why this is so long
Ah well, will have a look in the morning, trouble is the bike is still at college. Wont be easy pushing it all the way home, up quite a few hills  ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |

well i put it in the garage yesteray that a mate recommended, i went down there before with a couple mates as they know the bloke well.
phoned up today and it will be somtime next week before i get her back
basically, carbs were very dirty (kinda already knew this but did nothing ) so hes taking them apart and cleaning them.
Think somthing was said about too much petrol going through or somthing and the tap wasnt working properly
oh and there was some petrol in with the engine oil
Thats the jist of what i was told from my dad who phone him this morning (i was at college)
Looks like a boring weekend for me  ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |

Take the fake ram air duct things off and tape over the holes left on the plastic tank bit. This was a problem with ZXR400's.. although the fake ram air doesnt really od much it does chuck a lot of air under the tank where the carbs are .. hence carb icing...
Might explain why it rode fine for a while /then/ had the problems?

Well as this is my thread...
i got it back today, work done:
Dismantle carbs and clean (he showed me the shit that came out of them after just draining them )
cleaned fuel line and tap.
new spark plugs
charge battery
oil change (had petrol in it )
Cost: £129.91
Starts up fine, but its running like shit. Basically it has to idle higher or somthing for a few miles so idleing at 2k rpm. He said i could change it back to normal tomorrow or somthing.
But the thing is it really is a struggle to go fast. Takes a year to get to 60 as it revs sooooo slowly and no more than about 11k rpm.
Is this just because of the work done and would sort it self out or was the timing not set right??
Ill take her out for a ride tomorrow morning or somthing, change the idle speed and if no change i shall take her back. ____________________ || Past: 1991 Kawasaki ZXR 250 ~ 2003 Honda CBR 600 F Sport ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1999 Yamaha R1 ~ 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R J ~ 2004 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H 636 ~ 1998 Honda VTR1000F Firestorm ~ K1 GSXR 600 Track bike ~ K6 GSXR 1000 ~ 2006 Speed Triple 1050 || Current: 2005 R1 https://www.adrucore.co.uk |

oh dear...
went out there just now to find some rather not nice looking white stuff under my bike, didnt paticuly smell of anything. started her up to see if she would, reved it a few times to see if she could hold herself at 2k revs, nope.
Look under her again and theres what seems to be oil dripping
Phoned up the garage, must be on his lunch break or somthing as only got the answer machine. Wont risk riding it the mile or two to the garage.
