Winter gloves

After returning home late last night, having done about 90 miles, my fingers were absolutely frozen and I could hardly feel them at all! It seems that my Frank Thomas Multi Strada gloves are just not cutting the mustard. I expect for my fingers to get really cold in these conditions but I must be able to get gloves that will do a better job than these.

I have seen a few people on here recommend the HG 'vulcan' style glove before. Is this still the glove of choice for winter or do you have any more suggestions?

instead of better gloves. Spose it depends on your bike aswell, they'd look really funny on a race rep style bike to me.

dont know what gloves thos HG vulcan things are but mine i just got (part of a complete HG set for winter... but as a christmas present) the gloves are "5 finger gloves" and cost me £40 (they could very well be the "vulcan" gloves look quite nice but not as nice as my leather summer alpinestars sp2's (i only realised they were summer gloves when they wernt waterproof and they were f00kin cold so shows how much i know)

Good point on the heated grips, it hadn't even occured to me that it would be about the same price as buying a new pair of gloves! Doh!

get a nice pair as i heard some will cook your palms and leave your knuckles with frostbite

no idea, ask a few people on here they will know, also worth investing in some of them flexi pads that you boil then flex and they heat to 50°c in seconds and stay liek that for about an hour they only cost a 5er and sounds good if you can put them anywhere

I've just been down the bike shop for a new chain and sprocket set, but managed to also come back with some Oxford Hot Grips and some new Alpinestars winter gloves.

I'll let you know about the grips once i've figured out how to fit them.

FWIW I have a set of the Oxford Hot Hands (the wrap around ones) but haven't fitted as I can't fault the HG Pathan gloves yet.
I do know other firms do the 3 finger gloves, someone I think mentioned JTS in another thread.

What bike would you be fitting heated grips to? Bear in mind a fair amount of smaller bikes with weak charging systems will have trouble with high current drains. (My VFR400 with it's infamously crap charging system had trouble with Oxford's grips set to anything over 1/2 on the dial).

I aint got enough electrical power being produced for heated grips (dont really have enoguh to keep all the lights on), but those £25 bar muffs look very tempting for the price, may have myself a pair.

I bought a pair of the Jet Stars, as given the top rating in Ride.
There good gloves and hopefuly will save my skin, but after my 4 hour ace ride out on Sunday, my fingers were totaly numb.

I could hardly feel the heat from the mug at Devils bridge and the services on the M6.

On the subect of gloves, I've just bought a new pair, really nice, comfy
and well, bloody cheap!! I paid £8 from a market stall in London and
yet motorcycle shops are asking for £30-£90 for gloves. Well fuck that!
I use handlebar muffs with my new gloves and I have no problems.

I just bought some thermal gloves that i put on and then put my normal gloves over the top, keeps my hands nice and warm and they were only 4.99
