Polishing out scratches??

Here is my headlight, it has some scratches in it which i presume were obtained from a low speed spill befor i bought the bike.

Can i sand/polish them out? wet and dry? anyone tried this before?

I think if you try and use anything even slightly abrasive you'll end up making things worse. I'm no expert, but unless you want a full on frost effect, anything you try will compound matters.

To remove the scratches you will have to remove the glass to a level below the deepest scratch. It can be done by polishing with fine grain abrasives, but by machine. (Or you will have nil sex life for a month.)
Buy a new lens simple.

It could probably be done with a mechanical buffer, but I expect the hassle of getting it there and the cost of having it done would outweight the advantages of just getting a new one. Chances are it won't look perfect.

Keep an eye out on eBay for CBRs being broken maybe?

Take it to a car windscreen shop, they will polish it out, or try and get some jewellers rouge (rocky horse shit)and a dremmell with polisher

The finest wet + dry on earth, used with water. Then coarse rubbing compound, then fine rubbing compound, then T-cut, then more, and more, and more, and more T-cut. Followed by so much polishing, you'll feel like you've just recreated you whole youth's worth of masturbation in one hour. Have fun!

Easy ... 1200-1500 wet'n'dry ... rub it down using plenty of water until the surface of the scratch is smooth.

If you have a buff and polishing compund then use that for quickness (only polish for a second or so at a time to stop melting the plastic).

The other way is to use T-Cut and then Brasso ... you should be able to get a very good finish.

25,0000,000,00 grit wet or dry is what you need to use at 178,000,000.5Hz. For about 1 1/2 hours with 15lbs of pressure.
That should shift it for you.
