new gloves, still have cold hands!!

i bought some new gloves today and the woman in the shop said they should keep my hands warm(ish)

she lied!! had a 35mile trek home from work tonight and i really thought my hand was gonna fall off!! i mean i don't mind the coldness so much, it's the pain!!!

if i take them back tomorrow do you think they'll change them? i'll probably have to give them some more money for better ones but it's better than having another pair that don't keep me warm!!!

how much do you expect to pay for decent ones??

It might be an idea to try some undergloves before you give up though.

My current ones were £65 and they are the best I have owned. Hands still get a bit chilly after a while if it is very cold though, especially if I don't have wind deflectors on the bars.

The temperature it has been today, I would be wanting to stop for a short warm up after about 150 miles even with my full winter kit on if I didn't have wind deflectors.

I would also suggest bunging a few more layers on. Thermal vests and long johns are not fashionable but they work! Thumbs Up

you need muffs
these are big gloves that fit over the bars and controls

they keep the wind chill and rain off

i got mine for £15 from nec but you can get them from shops or ebay for about £25 i think

also keep you core body temperature up by wearing lots of clothes, and your body will keep your hands warm too

No, not the new stuff. They let the moisture out. Same with the windproof long johns, bl00dy brilliant. When you take them off (gloves, shirts, long johns), turn them inside out to make it easier for any remaining moisture to dry out.

If it is really cold I wear my ski-ing gloves. They are very warm and were cheaper than my £80 'biking' gloves. Only problem is they do not have the same protection, armour etc.

I've always found my hands colder wearing my winter gloves than wearing my summer gloves for the simple reason that in my winter gloves, my hands don't move about enough so there's less circulation and so colder hands. How bulky are your gloves? The more bulk usually means not much hand movement.

Now I usually ride with my summer gloves all year with a pair of heated grips. Only wear my winter gloves in the rain.

A decent pair of winter gloves should let your hands be supple, warm and waterproof. Never happened in my view but RiDE recommend Alpinestars Jet Road Gore-tex for £68 or try Spada Force 2 WP for £45.

I have some alpinestars winter gloves but my hands still get really cold, they were a pressie, but i don't rate em.

need to fit my heated grips to this bike, had em on me old one and with combined with me winter gloves,

purfect toastie hands!

I when looking for muff to add to me bike without any success but came away with a pair of Buffalo thermal inner gloves that when combined with my Summer gloves and the heated grips work an absolute treat.

The reason they work so well is the gloves have a wind proof lining on the top but a soft thermal cloth on the bottom so unlike my old this winter gloves the heat from the grips pass through my summer gloves and the thermal lining and warms my hands and not just the outside of the thick gloves.

Have to say the best £8.99 I have spent in a long time.
