Just wondering really, since its been cold recently my bike has been making weird noises when using it at below 0?C.

Hard to describe the sound, its like a moving squeeking/hooting noise when I get above certain revs.

Could this be carb icing causing the engine to stuggle to run or something?

Or has anyone got any suggestions, also the bike is still running and pulling fine at the moment too (/me touches wood).

TAI

Craig

Mine made a hooting, wheeeing noise from the tank today when i poured gallons of warm water on the tank to hopefully warm the tank and carbs.

In doing so, it warmed the inside of the tank and i could only assume that the hooting, whistling noise is escaping fuel vapour caused by the ice changing state into water.

It hooted every time i poured water on it, and hooted whenver i stopped at lights. I couldn't really hear it whilst on the move cos of the ram air. Once i put Silkolene FST in my tank, it stopped.

Started fine after this.

Craig, try and see if Silkolene FST works with it, and cover your bike up at night with plastic.

I definately think that it's got something to do with carb icing.

HTH.
