hi,
i have just fitted a new can to my cb500 but i have a slight problem. the origonal has a bracket welded to it that hits a bracket on the centre stand to stop it from coming fully up and hittin the chain or whatever it likes. my new can made by track and race products, deos not have the bracket so the stand just runs on the chain. anyone had any experience of this before and any ideas how to solve it, do you have to remove the stand and if so what will be the consiquence and how easy is it o do ect.
thanks
sam

Depending on what the can is made off you can either -
1. Spoil the looks by putting a homemade bracket on it.
2. Get a stainless welder to tack you a bracket on the can that would look OK.
3. Take the centrestand off and just use the sidestand, then either just put it back on when you need the back wheel off the ground for maintenance stuff or buy a paddock stand to use instead.
Not hard to take off, it's harder to put them back on as there is a knack with the springs.

Take it you just bought a "universal" or race can, most sold in road legal form for a particular bike usually have the bracket as well you just have to swop the rubber bung bit over.
