hi guys, just a message to let u all know i am now starting a full rebuild of my zxr400 h reg L model, its all in bits at the minute and im just prepping the fairings for paint, not sure if im gunna stick with origional colours or choose something diffrent, might just stick with origional for ease, got new braided lines to go on, down pipes need sortin out coz they are blown summat rotten, also, i first thought cam was knockin, but its turned out that the cylinder head is held in by bolts and some of these bolts are threaded, so im gunna dig the tap and die set out and get it sorted to hopefully get rid of that bloody rattle, rest of engine is bloody excellent and will be sweet when running, im gunna keep posting pics of what i have donw so far, here a few of them, ill try my hardest to keep this up to date, if anyone has any suggestions then just let me no. cheers

here is the nest stage of build, left and right hand fairings all painted up, i decided to stick with origional colours as i quite liked them anyway, and as for sprayin in winter months, i was in a garage in the right temperature, so no probs there, i think its came out all right considerig what i had to work with, there was uge smash in one side, u may ask why i didnt just buy new, well its a restoration and i wanted to keep as many stock parts as i cud (plus im feckin skint)
heres a few pics, - primin and painting stages, next step, sleaning break discs up i think, or maybe polishing the frame

Make sure you take pictures all the way through. I'm glad I took pictures of every stage of my TZR rebuild.

How about getting the frame powder coated? Search for a thread about a guy rebuilding his NC30. But then breaks his leg. He got the frame powder coated, added new rear maxton shock, RVF forks. Looks beautiful as far as he got.

Respray job doesn't look half bad!

Start over on the panels with stickers on as they will always show through. Heat the stickers up with a hair dryer and peel them off, works a treat.

as i sed above, i ended up just saning them off coz there was sum skid damage on one side which had embedded the sticker deep, so now its smooth and u cant see it

Are you going to put stickers back on again afterwards?

I think most spray jobs look poor because of the lack of stickers.

Whereas proper stickers can really make an aftermarket (but amateur) spray job.

Take Sammyboy's new RVF for instance, beautiful bike, beautiful paint job, but it's all one tone, and no stickers. I think it'd benefit from a couple of big Honda stickers.
