basically my friend is a cager, having got to know us he wants a 125 cruiser to ride on the CBT licence he has just obtained. Now the kids always going to be massive on a cruiser as hes like 6'3 or something.

Anyway, he wants a cruiser because thats what most of the lads ride and hes gone the same way as me, falling in love with them.

He hasnt got mega bucks to spend, say £1200 or so. I have already pointed out the Chinese copies he can buy himself and hes not sure.

What would you guys reccomend is a good buy for say a year to two years commuter riding?

p.s, another reason he wants a bike is because he realises how much cheaper they are to run than his car on his 15minute ride to work!

Honda ca125

2cylinderparralel, bit more power than a cg, untraditionaly nice comfy seat, solid runing... unless your geting a 2 stroke theres not many more powerfull 4stroke 125's out there really

Honda shadow 125
15bhp, vtwin, water cooled, quite a bit more heavy + will be more expensive i'd expect..

Some copys are not too bad, but theres absoloute rubbish ones out so personally i'd stick with a japanese bike till the chinese have a few established makers

I enjoyed my Kymco Zing 125. Very Happy Loads of chrome but struggled to top 60mph on a hill.

I'd say look for a honda shadow, and buy in the winter.

Isn't he going to have some difficulty getting a 125 cruiser that is tall enough for him. Don't know how much bigger most are than the dullard SR125 but I think someone of his height would struggle on my bike.

Honda rebel seems very well put together but small and low.

Yamaha XVS125 Dragstar looks big enough to be a 650, they are huge and certainly look the part (v-twin), supposed to be dog slow though due to their weight.

The SR125 has a lot to recommend it in terms of reliability, simplicity and cheapness.
