I passed my test this morning in lincoln and on my way home I was all excited about finally getting on one of my bikes legally, to find a letter telling me i had been caught speeding, and because i already had 3 points on my licence for having a broken rear l plate, that means i am now banned. Just wondering if this has happend to anyone else and what i need to do now to get it back?, Dan

From what the officer on the phone told me it looks like i'm getting away with it, it means that the 6 points do get transfered onto my full licence but as they were given before the issue date of my full licence, it means i have to get a further 6 points whilst holding my full licence for me to be banned, i'l have to go into the police station tomorrow and find out for sure. The only way i think they could still ban me is by sayin that the full licence is not valid as my provisional licence as not valid at the time the test was taken. Just have to see what they say Thumbs Up fingers crossed !

6 on provisional. You need to reapply and redo your cbt, but as the notification was only served after you did your test, you should have grounds to contest it and keep your license.

I thought 6 points applied to the first two years and they carry over?

If so, it's possible to get nine in your first two years of riding?

Can anyone fill me in with some solid info here?

12 on provisional, Once you pass your test if you get points that take you upto or over 6 your license is revoked.

So, bidman if you get 1 more point your license will be revoked.

Its not a ban, you can re-aply for your provisional straight away.

Right so although these 6 points do get carried over to my full licence I have to gain a further 6 points whilst holding my full licence for it to be revoked Thumbs Up ?

No...

You have 6 points on your license, if you get just 1 more point your license will be revoked. Normally the license is revoked as soon as you get 6 but since the points where attained on your provisional it didn't break the getting 6 points in the first 2 years thing.

Aren't you only allowed 6 points on a provisional anyway?

12 on a provisional.

Bidman I would advise you send away for your points first, when you get your license back then send it away to get the license catagorise updated.
