Going by the amount of interest in such a bike and the substantial backing now behind Aprilia the bike is more of a possibility than it would have been a few years ago at it's release as a concept. Add to that that Aprilia are very unlikely to announce they are creating such a bike as Japan would be onto them and launch a vehicl as quickly as Aprilia are able to, stealing some of their sales/glory.

I would expect a few home specials to be made in the meantime which could prove interesting.

Drooling That bike is sex on wheels! if they start producing them next year, i'll be so unbelievably tempted to buy one on finance. I'd get thoroughly bummed by black horse insurance, but that bike looks great, even if it does look a little photoshoppy.

Isn't that the SM they were doing? Confused

They should do that thing above, it looks the dogs, and it would be such a step up from a 250. Would sell like nothing else.

Incidentally, is there an RSV600? Confused Aprilia seem to be pretty laxx in that area!

I looks sweet. Cool

I would consider a 450 kawa or other only as long as they updated the style a bit though. Confused

I might go for a Honda, purely for reliability issues.

Of course, the day I can afford a brand new bike is a long way off anyway. Laughing

I think that the point is, you would get the brakes and handleing of an RS250 with the low down grunt of a v twin, combined with more power than a sports 400 due to the larger capacity and more modern engine design. keep the weight down and it would be seriously quick!

They raced the 450 supermoto against a zx6 round a wet mallory park, the 450 won!

Yay, were moving back to the 450cc capacity.

Its quite weird how these things move in circles.

In the 70s/80s there were lots of 450s, same with 650s and they stopped making them.

We now have a few 650s back on the market and 450s are back too.

I have one of the original 450s, the Honda CB450DX-K.

IMO Bikes should come in 166, 333, 666 and 999cc...

That way you have a clear starting point, and a clear career path Laughing

I'm suprised many manufacturers haven't launched any new 400s in a while. They may have been axed due to low demand, but manufacturers must be aware that they're perfect for those on a 33bhp restriction who don't want a little 125 smoker.

All sorts of odd capacities have been used. 450 was quite rare compared to 550. Just that we seem to have moved into a more strict banding of capacities over the last 10~15 years, which hopefully is ending a bit.

All the best

I cant see them replacing a 250 2t with a 4502t. I think it would be a 4t. Plus with all this 'save the world' stuff....

Hi

Those 450 / 550 engines are 4 strokes. And I think the pictures of the sports bikes using those engines are just photoshop jobs done for bike magazines.

All the best

And a 2 stroke 450 could have similar power to a few years old 600 if they put some effort it in, and again, with modern designs could probably weigh about the same as the old 250.

You think they'd really make a bike that much fun? Smile

motor out of supermoto in a light weight frame, covered in plastics?

Why not just have the light weight frame, screw the plastics and keep the supermoto?
