plug electrode erosion ???

hello guys, need help!! my rs 50 1998 rossi rep has been running rough for a few days and i can get it started but my electrode is being eroded away extremely fast any ideas on what may cause this, my dad reckons the mix is running too rich or too lean but has forgotten which. please help need the bike running for monday thanks alex!

Those two strokes have a tendancy to eat plugs, get it replaced.

Is it standard?
Has it been derestricted?
Have the carbs been fiddled with?
Is the airbox/carb connectio tight/not leaking (air leak will cause lean runing which will make it run like shite + not do much good for the plugs)

Hi all, 'Dad' her re the plugs.

The plug is only 2 days old but the spark (not the ground) electrode is 'eaten' away very noticeably.

It could just be a duff plug but... it does have an aftermarket air filter, not that I'm expecting that to make much difference.

Does the RS require a special plug 'cos I know that when a new one was bought it wasn't the same as the original spec plugs numbers, apparently the replacement was ' the same thing , just a different number'!

I'm not sure but it could also be ignition timeing being a bit "hot"
Either way soemthing is VERY wrong if its only 2 days old!

Try the standard filter, if its letting more air through it will be runing lean..

Now i think of it the plug has to be the specific one reccomended in the manual, if the plug tempreture is too low then the plug will get murdered, if too low the spark wont be hot enough...

IF its only been doing it since plug changes than thats probably it
