I cant wait to get my test passed, and febuary can not come any sooner.

Im sick of the disrespect, the way having a stupid L on the back thinks other drivers have the right to treat you like a piece of shite.

Anyway i'll explian my little rant,

Going down the A58 40mph section, me and a Vauxhall Astra are stuck behind some guy in a 1.2 clio RT doing 28 mph on my clocks on a 40 section, so both me and him wait for ample oppurtunity to overtake, guy in front does it, nice and clear road ahead both sides, does it nicely, not cutting in front, i do the same, only slightly louder and leave a big gap between me pulling in and overtaken car, now the road splits into 1 and half lanes (parked cars on left lane)

Slow down for speed camera, see him in outside lane , start speed up after lines of camera, indicate to move lanes and what do i see him trying to force his way and side swipe me,giving the hand gestures and trying to undertake me before it goes back to one lane. Then at the lights, revving and flashing me, like edging to within and i dont lie abot a pubes length from my reg plate, giving it the im hard.

What did i do to deserve that may i ask??? All i did was overtake you, not like a nutter, in fact it was a Grandma style overtake! Cant exacly tear arse past like a nutter on a cbr 125.

Fucking dick head.

I like having L plates, because I get all the knob head chavs in their Novas, Clios, Astras, Corsas etc trying to race me. They see a small B reg bike with L plates and they think "oh look at that shit old bike, lets race it". Little do they know they are about to get blown away. 125's are fun bikes, not on the slow side and leave pretty much every chav car standing. I pissed over a chav in his 2ltr Astra GSi a while ago. Shoulda seen the look on his face, twas priceless.

But as you been saying mate, you do get the knobs that disrespect you when they see L plates. I have had many people do silly overtakes on me, cut me up on roundabouts etc. When they see the L plate they think that the rider new, but 7 times out of 10, the rider has more than a years experience like myself. Obviously thats not the case for 16 year olds on 50's, but I know people in their 30's riding on L's, whats that to say that they are inexperienced?

I love having my little 125, its the slowest 125 out there along with the CG, but it still gives cars a good run for there money up 40/50mph.

Ive been riding since im 16, and im now nearly 20 (3 weeks Very Happy), im sensible and dont ride like a lunatic and do silly overtakes. Just for god sake its been said time and time again, show some fucking respect and use your fucking brain Mr & Mrs Cagers, im on a bike, i mess about or you hit me and other fellow bikers the tarmac will eat our legs, arms, face head etc. A little prang in a car is fuck all, a little prang on a bike hurts, even with leathers on, the pain in the morning, my god it hurts!

I first started riding at 25 on L plates on a 125 Italjet twist & go thingy(ended up taking the dealer to court - but that's a different story!)
I would get loads of abuse and aggro from drivers who assumed that, because i was on a scooter with L plates, i was a spotty sixteen year old.
It was only when i got off the bike and started to walk towards their car to 'educate' them, that they realised they were fucking with an adult and not a boy still nourished by his mothers milk. I'm a strapping 6 foot and 14 stone - in an armoured jacket and lid with dark visor you will always look taller, broader and more intimidating.
Most aggresive car drivers are convinced by the illusion of safety of their car - 99% of them are pussies who normally wouldn't say boo to a goose. If someone called me a wanker on the street because i was in their way, they would get a punch in the face - just because they are in a car doesn't make me treat them any differently.
I find a fun tactic to employ if someone gives you (unwarranted) abuse on the road is to sit behind them and follow them. It's fun to start to watch them get more and more freaked out - going around roundabouts 2 or 3 times, doubling back on themselves etc. It may take me miles out of my way, and be ultimately futile and pointless, but it sure is fun!
Very Happy

Can I ask how far away this traffic camera was from where the lane goes back into a single carriageway?

If it is a small distance, and considering you are on a relatively low powered bike, it could be that your overtaking manouvere was not the best in the world. Consider next time if you have enough space to overtake, people will be assholes and not let you in without you dropping back on dual-carriageways even.

I'd agree that either way it doesnt mean the guy should put you into danger like that.

Believe me bwfc4eva86, this does not stop just because you get on a 'big' bike and lose (notice how I spelled that;) ) the L plate. I ride one of the fastest road bikes out there and still get it even if I ride considerately. Drivers don't generally know one bike from another and often think we as bikers are 2nd best on the road. That said the majority are OK.

Try and take it in your stride mate, don't let the bastards drive you down!

I've had people trying to cut me up in a knackered old Passat Estate that cost me £115 - and with them in much more expensive cars.

Possibly even get it less on bikes because I'm either sticking with traffic or going past it a fair bit quicker than the traffic.

It's unfortunate, but shit happens when you're on a bike, and cagers don't seem to give a toss.

My advice has always been...

Pull up in front of the twatish cager and force him to stop. When he gets out of the car, confront him face-to-face and use the following lines...

OK mister, you wanna' fight ?
Let's see now...
I'm the one with protective gloves, armoured body plating and a helmet.
So, who do you think's gonna' win this fight ?

They'll soon get back into their biscuit tin and let you lead the way Razz

The best 'car' i ever owned was a battered up, dirty white citroen relay van, very few people were dumb enough to try and cut me up because the van had an air of 'if you try it, i WILL crash into you' about it.
I really miss it now.

One thing that gets me, they think there the better road users, yet put them on the CBT on a CG125 and maybe then it will open their eyes up to how dangerous biking really is.

It wasnt overtaking near the camera, i overtook, further up the road, it goes from one lane, to 1 and half lane then back to one again. It was neither a agressive or dangerous manouver, he just didnt like the fact he got overtaken by a bike/ L plate.

Im not a huge lad, but im 5ft 11 and quite broad, and box every Saturday evening. People think they are the hardest people in the world in their car and it does my head in.

I hate car drivers, no disrespect to any other car users on here (i own one too) they are a menace, they are dangerous, they are lazy and i will love it when the L plater they are trying to intimidate, gets off and beats the living shit out of them.

I dont think it changes tho with a bigger bike?! My mate rides a ZXR 400 and he still gets dick heads trying to force him off the road, and intimidate him. He's not a soft lad, so it would be rather amusing if he got of the bike and confronted them.

the answer as stated by a few people is stop in front of the guy.
ask him "if he remembers being born?"then pull him out through the (now broken) window and give him a good smack.
either that or just ride on knowing that the guy is a tosser and somebody else will lay him out soon.

On the odd occasion when I have had a car too close to my back L-plate I execute a nervous little "wobble" Shocked . Never had one yet that hasn't backed right off and then passed me with loads of room to spare. Thumbs Up

Have found though that the pensioners are the ones that pass with only inches to spare. Evil or Very Mad

Im the type of person that needs to be smacked first before i hit back, i feel it helps because it gets me angrier.

Thing is tho, if i did drag him out of his car and proceed to stamp on his head, so it is part of the A58's tarmac, i may get done for gbh or abh! Cant add that to a ASBO and 4 months in Youth offenders Crying or Very sad

I agree, I can't wait until Feb when I can take my test and ditch the L's. I find people riding right up my arse in their 4X4's the most annoying.

Also people don't let you in when you filter if you have L's.

Thats very true. Ditching the 'L' plate won't make much difference, in fact you will probably gain even more disrespect once it's gone.
It's not the L plate it's the bike. Some people are just jealous.

The thing that annoys me is when someone cuts you up or does something dodgy, then when you get next to them they just sit there and dont even acknowledge you. Some twat the other day forced his way past me into a tiny gap, meaning I HAD to move over or he'd hit me.

Funnily enough, when I pulled up next to him, shouting through his window "GET OUT OF THE FUCKING CAR YOU CUNT", he did the window up and just carried on staring forward, even when I kicked his door, he still didn't have the balls to look me in the eye and explain why he'd tried to ram me into the kerb.

Twat, and I'm not riding with L plates. Some wankers know that in a bike/car interface, the car will win, and they like to make a show of it.

What puzzles me is why do cagers give us L plate riders little respect, I mean, they should be giving us room, time and patience but instead you get them up your arse so close they are almost on the back of the bike! I have slowly started to overtake now when stuck in traffic on the way home from work and most cagers tend to move over as they know you are there but there are some that simply dont like to see an L plate silly rider riding past them, what with all my clobber on they probably dont even realise that I a lady, lol!
On a couple of occasions now I have had the nod from fellow bikers, not on L plates I might add so thats comforting, but any luck I wont be on L plates much longer Wink
