Hi all

I have a kawasaki VN800 Drifter that im looking to fit with a pillion seat, however im finding it difficult to source one. Anyone here have any ideas?

Wotcha.

Strangely enough, I have a 800 Drifter, complete with dual seat - - and I'm looking for a single seat . . . . . I can see a plan forming here Laughing The sort of plan that involves two Drifters, some spanners, and bit of swapping around.

Hi Wolf

Sounds like a good plan. Im the second owner of the bike and the first guy originally swapped out the dual seat for the single that is now on the bike.

The bike is still in the shop but i'll email them and see if they can send me some pics of the seat. It looks to me like a custom seat as it has a paw print indented on it, im not sure??

The condition of the seat seems excellent, what about yours?

My bike was the shop 'demo' bike, but being a Drifter, no one wanted to take it out, so only the shop staff ever played on it.

As good as the day it was fitted.
Take a nose HERE . I've left the piccy at full resolution so you can see the seat - piccy was taken October this year.

I know; bad form to edit and all that. Just looked - ain't it typical - you're in Northern Ireland . . . . I can see the postal service being of some use in the future Razz

What year is your bike wolf? Mine is 2003

Also im not sure about swapping as i think the seat that is on my drifter was quite expensive, im currently trying to get in touch with the previous owner to find out how much he paid and where he bought it.

Hopefully i'll have some pics by the end of the week. Would you be interested in selling your seat? and if so for how much?

I kind of want to keep the single for everyday use and swap it for the dual seat if the GF is comming along. I still havnt made my mind up TBH.

Indeed - but no matter how much it cost, if you can't use it for carrying a passenger then it ain't that much use to you Wink

Errr - No. If I sell my seat, what will I sit on ? I just thought that you may have been interested in swapping seats . . never mind, it was just a thought ( I do have 'em now and again ).

There we are - not a problem. Keep the single seat for everyday use - I dare say a dual seat will crop up soon enough - there seems to be more folks going from two seats to one with the Drifter.

Let me know if you do end up getting a single seat, mabey by that stage you might be looking to sell your dual seat.

BTW I wasnt expecting you to sell your seat without first having a replacement Wink

Wotcha.

The oiling is taken care of by a Scottoiler ( you can just about see the feed pipe in the picture HERE ) - hidden behind the right hand side panel. As for changing the chain - then entire rear mudguard - complete with lights and indicators , comes off as a single unit after undoing six bolts and unplugging one connector.

had a look around for one of them there drifters, but the 800 was like hens teeth, so ended off with 1100 viago instead, luckily it had a corban seat, much more comfortable than the stock

busy tidying it up at the minute
