Confusion over restriction rules!

Now I saw a statement that says that a bike can be restricted to:

"25kW (33BHP) or power to weight <= 0.16 Kw/kg"

Now if this is true it means a something like say a Thundercat has a restriction limit of approximately 29.9 kw ( or a little over 40bhp.) as that is when the power to weight ratio is 0.16. Would this be legal to restrict it to 40bhp?

Is this even possible? or are restrictor kits only available to restrict to 33bhp?

AFAIK it can not make over 33bhp.

BUT if restricting the bike to 33bhp meant that the power to weight ration was higher than allowed the bike would have to be resticted thurther

No, it has to be either 33bhp or LESS THAN (hence the < ) than the quoted power to weight ratio.

Hi, i'm afraid mchaggis is correct, A standard motorcycle licence (category A2) will restrict you for a period of two years to riding machines with a power output not exceeding 25 kW and a power/weight ratio not exceeding 0.16 kW/kg. After the two year period you may ride any motorcycle.
This means that you have to make sure the bike is restricted to meet both the requirements. This type of licence is also now refered to as the A2 licence by the dsa and police.

Ok cheers for clearing that up, I though that might be the case. I just saw that statement on another forum and though I might investigate.

Get a lightweight bike for 33bhp, the insurance companies never take any notice of the power:weight rule. The bike can't exceed 33bhp, though. A thundercat would be useless as the gearing would be shockingly high for that ammount of power.
